Obama administration defending Bush secrets (Hey Liberal Moonbats, how you like him now?)

Despite President Barack Obama's vow to open government more than ever, the Justice Department is defending Bush administration decisions to keep secret many documents about domestic wiretapping, data collection on travelers and U.S. citizens, and interrogation of suspected terrorists.

In half a dozen lawsuits, Justice lawyers have opposed formal motions or spurned out-of-court offers to delay court action until the new administration rewrites Freedom of Information Act guidelines and decides whether the new rules might allow the public to see more.

In only one case has the Justice Department agreed to suspend a FOIA lawsuit until the disputed documents can be re-evaluated under the yet-to-be-written guidelines. That case involves negotiations on an anti-counterfeiting treaty, not the more controversial, secret anti-terrorism tactics that spawned the other lawsuits as well as Obama's promises of greater openness.

They have no choice. They are doing the same thing as the Bush Administration did in defending the Records of BJ Clinton.

If they admit that the public right to information on the Bush Admin they would not be able to claim executive privilege in the future.

Yep. Maybe they should have put up a disclaimer before running on the “most transparent government” campaign.

They are planning ahead so that Bush can’t get the documents to use in his defense when they hand him over to the Hague to be tried as a war criminal.

I’ll tell you: they still worship him. He is their little tin god. He will pee on their leg, tell them it is raining, and they’ll ask him for more.

I am so sad to see these poor people walking around with Obama t-shirts...they’re truly deluded and they’re bringing down a nation by bowing their knee to this clown.

I wish that were true, but the Dems are the party of but-that's-different. They get away with it because they own the courts is so many areas and they have the DBM protecting them.

"documents about domestic wiretapping, data collection on travelers and U.S. citizens,"

Policies remain. Target list will change.
