Western swing reflects 2012 campaign strategy [2010? or 2012?] McCain's Rat "friends" turn on him]
The Hill, Washington, DC ^ | 2009-02-16 | Mike Soraghan

In heading to Denver to sign the massive economic stimulus bill and Phoenix to announce his housing plan, President Obama is signaling the importance of the interior West to the Democratic Party and his re-election plans.

“They certainly think they’re going to pick up three or four states out here,” said Denver pollster Floyd Ciruli.

Obama won Colorado solidly in November. Arizona went for home-state Republican Sen. John McCain, but is seen as a top Democratic target in 2012.

“They’re making sure that all portions of the Obama coalition are carefully tended,” said Larry Sabato, professor of politics at the University of Virginia. “Presidents lose re-election when they waste their term. You waste your term when you don’t use presidential travel wisely.”

In Arizona, Sabato expects Obama to reinforce his “bipartisanship” theme with a salute to his general election opponent. McCain, who lambastes the $787 billion stimulus as “generational theft,” won’t be there. But Sabato said that makes it all the more easy to score bipartisan points.

“He can still salute him,” Sabato said.

One would expect that the journalists at The Hill would realize that McCain is running for re-election in 2010... unless he's gonna be the GOP POTUS candidate again in 2012.

McCain will never again be the nominee. He’s demonstrated TWICE he cannot run a national campaign.

He’s simply unelectable to the Presidency.

I think they are just saying that the Dems are lining up their armies to win AZ in the next presidential election.

Was quite disappointed yesterday when bro-in-law (fellow conservative, I thought) used retarded as an adjective describing the beloved governor of Alaska....

They’ve even gotten to him. I’m depressed.

“They certainly think they’re going to pick up three or four states out here,” said Denver pollster Floyd Ciruli.

Not a poor assumption at all.

Especially given the level of GOP incompetence and outright stupidity these last 5 - 8 years.

Plus he would be 76 in 2012. Ronald Reagan was about 2.5 weeks short of his 78th birthday when he left office.

Maybe you should take him on a trip to Alaska and introduce him to Gov. Palin. That would change his mind in about ten seconds.

Unfortunately, FR, along with all other non-leftist websites, may be long gone, by the time that the ‘12 Presidential election cycle officially begins.

They are doing to Palin the same thing they did to Bush 24/7. It works - it’s where sheeple get their ‘facts’.

The msm spikes good GOP news, exaggerates and obsesses on or even lies about bad GOP news and does just the opposite for the dims.

Why would the Democrats knock off McCain?
He is their most effective Senator.

Bob Wills is still the KING!

Deep within my heart lies a melody, Ah haa

My parents ran a night club in the early fifties, and had Bob Wills and his band play there. I saw the contract $50.00. Times do change, don't they?

He can run for office, he just cannot preside in the office.

The ‘perfect’ candidate and the imperfect president.
