Deadbeat parents rounded up in 'Operation Tough Love'

Round-up conducted on Valentine's Day azfamily.com

PHOENIX – Another deadbeat parent round-up was conducted on Valentine’s Day by Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies.

"Operation Tough Love" targeted parents with arrest warrants on Saturday for refusing to pay child support.

The sheriff's office said the top offenders owe more than $1 million.

Helen Montgomery, who is owed child support, says, “Nothing would be done if I wasn't coming down here and finding information and trying to get him arrested 'cause I think it's the tent that’s gonna make him pay, not 'cause his son's sick but because he doesn't want to be in jail and that's sad.”

Seventy-two people were arrested on Saturday but only 18 of them were taken into custody for outstanding child support warrants.

The sheriff's office said some offenders have moved out-of-state to avoid prosecution.

The others were arrested on drug and other charges.

See the video. I was in Phoenix when this happened. Joe is great. While getting the deadbeat dads, he nailed a bunch of illegals. The press, of course, will say that is why he did it. According to a source who is a friend of mine, Joe doesn't give a damn what the press says.

While getting the deadbeat dads,

I commend the article writer for getting it right, and calling them "deadbeat parents" whereas you call them deadbeat dads, following lockstep with the mainstream media's attempt to further villify men in general, and fathers specifically. Not cool.

Good point. I know a few dads who turned out to be great, especially compared to their ex-wives. And I know some in the opposite situation.

A loser is a loser regardless of race, gender, or creed. Let’s call it like it is.

Sheriff Joe would have made a better Homeland Security director than that Anti-American Bigot, Janet Napolitano.

Congrats again to Sheriff Joe and his deputies...

My ex owes me enough where if we lived in Sherrif Joe’s jurisdiction, she’d be eligible for lockup, but I live somewhere where men have less rights. “Too bad” is pretty much the official statement to a dad owed child support from a woman. I know a lot of dads in this situation, and not because of some support group silliness.

My husband’s ex-wife is closing in on owing him $10,000. Child Support Enforcement could care less.

I’m sorry to hear that...God bless you for sticking through it. Hopefully someday your kids will recognize that dad was their hero, if they don’t already.

Being a custodial dad is pretty tough. I hate when others call what i do “babysitting”, too. I hope all works out for you.

Child Support Enforcement could care less.

It would probably be more accurate to say that Child Support Enforcement couldn't care less, meaning that its current level of caring is at zero.

Thank you. I’m guilty of that grammatical error quite often.

I left the headline as it was — “parents.” My comment was accurate because dads were the ones arrested. I was pleased to report that illegals were also arrested. Had a female been arrested, I would have been properly and accurately used the word “parents” instead of dads. Had a transsexual been arrested, such fact would have been included. I appreciate your situation but cut me some slack.

I would love Conyers’ violent, lowlife wife to someday be involved in a Phoenix bar fight and get arrested by Joe.
