If not for Collins, Snow and Spector, the entire bill would have been thrown away, and a new one without the pork would have been produced.

I don't believe that. Yes, these useful idiots allowed BHO to crow he had some bipartisanship, but I don't think the GOP has the heart for a full-on filibuster that would have gotten this all cleaned up. And, going forward, I don't think that they could filibuster steadily without getting a media/public backlash. The people who say the public wants something--anything-- done have a point. It's too hard for most people to wade through 1073 pages of special interest pork and form an independent opinion.
