Thanks for your comments.

I was in a position a couple of years ago, that I couldn’t control at my place of work. I knew there was going to be a short period of increased income, and then I’d probably be let go. I worked my ass off, just trying to accomplish the tasks that I had been given. It was impossible to do, but I was able to accumulate enough money during that period of time, that I paid down our debts so that if my perception came true, I would be positioned to ride it out.

It came true. I had positioned myself favorably. I have ridden it out.

Things are still looking decent for us right now. That could change. I am doing my best to try to conduct our affairs so that those who are employed because of our expenditures, won’t be negatively impacted by our refusal to spend.

We are frequenting the businesses we enjoy doing business with. We are doing our best to visit the restaurants we like.

What can I say? There’s only so much you can do, and if you can do it, then I think you should right now.

If not, then I of course want folks to think of what’s best for their families, and act accordingly.

This is the US, not some banana republic.

You are partially correct... This is the US, not some banana republic... Yet! Look what usually happens in third world countries, a dictator is installed or "elected" by the poor masses wanting something for free... then said leader starts cracking down on various laws to protect him and "his people"... then they start a socialist spending spree to harden up the base....

Starting to sound familiar? When you start to disenfranchise the millions of people who are actually paying the bills, they either stop paying the bills, leading to revolution,or they Lead the revolution... Just sayin!

Robert Kiyosaki - predicted this almost 5 years ago.

Yes. But. He predicted it would be about a decade from now and correspond with the baby boomers being forced to withdraw from 401(k)s @ age 70.5, thereby collapsing an equity house of cards.

That's not quite what happened. In addition, Kiyosaki is a huge proponent of debt to build ROI, and therefore, he did NOT predict a collapse of debt; his strategy greatly benefited from the debt-structured buildups that caused the collapse.

Don't get me wrong - I like Kiyosaki and "Rich Dad/Poor Dad". But. This collapse is simply not what he predicted. I DO remember him predicting a collapse and it has been at the back of my mind for years. It may have even helped me prepare for this one. For that, I do thank him.

I wish that conservatives, including many here on FR, would have opened their eyes and seen the housing melt-down coming in front of them.

There are quite a few of us that saw this coming many years ago and sounded the alarm, and to my amazement no one was listening, even people in my own family were saying I was crazy... that this was America, it couldn't or can't fail.

Then a couple of years ago Glenn Beck came back on the air here and started saying the exact same things I had been warning of... some family members were jolted awake, many by the info I still was throwing out and started preparing...

Then the "Housing Crash" and "Financial Crash" happened and now the Economic crash is on the way... Unfortunately a lot of others still refuse to see the light... their hedging bets that the U.S. still CANNOT fail, if you haven't waken family and friends up yet, you must do it now and get them prepared.

But if they refuse to acknowledge it, as some of my family and friends have, you must just prepare YOUR immediate family... its coming and it won't be pretty in any form!

Luv the part where you see him holding the flakes in like a 6 billion dollar banknote.

I’ve done alot of panning. On a good day, you can pick up a tenth of an ounce or so. Maybe alot more. Maybe none at all.

It is backbreaking work. But a tenth of an ounce per day would keep you alive!

You may want to think about an earlier exit. You know, to beat the rush.

Large parts of the Russian media now resemble the Weekly World News. I especially liked the story of bears meeting and rolling boulders down hill on passing motorists. One of Russia’s top bear hunters was hired to hunt down the rebelious bears.

And then we saw that Kris Kringle was bombing businesses with Christmas packages.

And don’t miss the endless UFO stories.

Hmmmmm

“It” Is Happening Already

by MG Dungan on February 9, 2009

“It” is shortages of critical commodities, a worrisome example of which is the raw materials used to prepare pharmaceutical drugs. Last week a Wegmans pharmacy in upstate New York ran out of OxyContin® and several other prescription medicines. Customers were told that Wegmans’ supplier did not have the ingredients to make several medicines and did not know when they would have them. Wegmans isn’t a mom-and-pop corner store with no buying power. It’s a 71-store chain on the east coast, is one of the largest private companies in the US and had sales of $4.8 billion in 2008.

Tasmania and India are the largest producers of thebaine, the active ingredient of OxyContin®, which is one of 20 alkaloid compounds derived from the opium poppy. Alkaloids cannot be stored by law, so each year’s crop size is limited by the expected sales. However, it’s only February so the shortage in the US is not due to exporters’ supplies having run out.

There is a worldwide shortage of acetonitrile, a critical chemical ingredient used in the purification of pharmaceutical compounds. Acetonitrile is a by-product of the automotive industry and is in short supply due to the worldwide slowdown in that industry, which, in turn, has caused chemical production facilities to close.

Any suggestions anyone?

I have both 12 and 20 guage. 20 has less kick and should be very sufficient for family use. Pump action should do the trick and even birdshot should be enough at close range.
Short barrel is easiest to use in a home. If you want to do a lot of damage buckshot 00 but otherwise almost any load will do for most home invasion situations. You shouldn’t be firing long range anyway with a shotgun unless you just want to scare someone. You don’t need anything fancy or expensive, just the basic shotgun. 12 guage ammo is readily available but most outlets stock 20 as well.

I plan on moving out of state in a few years. California has gone to the toilet.

Made that move three years ago, myself. We landed in North Texas, and couldn't be happier with our decision.

The way things are going in California, I don't know that you have "a few years" left to choose to move, but I've got my fingers crossed for you.

Looks like pro-russia propaganda to me.

Why? Because he was being interviewed on a Russian TV show? What's that got to do with his message?

You ought to google Gerald Celente to get a sense of who he is.

I am not sending my money for Nancy Pelosi to piss it away.

We all need to "shrug".

I disagree that "there isn't anything that we can do about it". There are far more of "us" than there are of "them". We can boot those buffoons out of our Capitol any day we choose to.

But - we have to choose to.

Cherry, your situation mirrors my own, but I’m not looking down. I’ve always taken care of myself, and will continue to do so, no matter what.

Good luck to you too.

Washington state politics was destroyed by the last big exodus of Cali wagon pullers...

Wagon pullers?

No, my friend, those were big city liberals who screwed up your state.

By definition, the people who vote for liberals are not wagon pullers. Even if they pay taxes, they don't usually add value to the communities where they operate because they don't create jobs or invest in real economic growth.

If your state had had an influx of real wagon pullers, you would have seen new businesses and jobs explode in WA state.
