Here’s the REAL reason obie returned the bust:

Winston Churchill On Islam

A quote from an 1899 book by Winston Churchill, “The River War”, in which he describes Muslims he apparently observed during Kitchener’s campaign in the Sudan

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property - either as a child, a wife, or a concubine - must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen; all know how to die; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science - the science against which it had vainly struggled - the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.

Good summary, Winnie!

More from Chruchill:

Churchill noted the threat of Wahhabism on June 14, 1921 at the House of Commons. At that time, Churchill was Secretary for the British colonies, and he had been involved in the formation of Iraq (in 1921), Jordan (Transjordan) and Palestine, territories which Britain had liberated from the Ottoman (Turkish) Empire.

A large number of Bin Saud’s followers belong to the Wahabi sect, a form of Mohammedanism.

“The Wahhabis profess a life of exceeding austerity, and what they practice themselves they rigorously enforce on others. They hold it as an article of duty, as well as of faith, to kill all who do not share their opinions and to make slaves of their wives and children. Women have been put to death in Wahhabi villages for simply appearing on the streets.”

“Austere, intolerant, well-armed, and blood-thirsty, in their own regions the Wahhabis are a distinct factor which must be taken into account, and they have been, and still are, very dangerous to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.”

The Bin Saud to whom Churchill refers here is King Abdul Aziz bin Saud (c. 1880-1953), who would go on officially to establish Saudi Arabia in 1932. The Wahhabists slaughtered 25 of the Mahmal caravan members at Mina because they played trumpets. Music was forbidden to the Wahhabists. The incident soured relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Churchill said: “An appeaser is one who feeds the crocodile hoping it will eat him last. Victory will never be found by taking the line of least resistance.”

“its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery”

Wow, what a great Winston quote! This is exactly what those morons are attempting to do with the health care system.

That quote is the reason that Obama sent back the bust.

Hey Brits, will take back Winny’s bust as soon as you produce Obama’s birth records from a Mombasa hospital.

No, this is what is behind the return of the Churchill bust:

“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” - Winston Churchill - It has always failed and it will fail again.

In 1952, Churchill sent troops to Kenya, to quash a rebellion. It led to a civil war lasting at least two years. The Messiah’s daddy would have been a young boy then. The Kikiyu (forgive my spelling) were loyal to the British. O is Lao is something like that.

Good thing we don’t have a president with divided loyalties:)

Someone send him a statue of Stalin or Lenin...I’m sure he’d treasure it.

I have to admit, that you could be right about the reason for the return of the bust. That article is powerful stuff. It would be funny to post a link to that article on a British web site, in defense of Geert Wilder and his film. Ask the Brits, what has changed?

From the Telegraph article

Churchill has less happy connotations for Mr Obama than those American politicians who celebrate his wartime leadership. It was during Churchill's second premiership that Britain suppressed Kenya's Mau Mau rebellion. Among Kenyans allegedly tortured by the colonial regime included one Hussein Onyango Obama, the President's grandfather.

My guess is he's replacing the Churchill bust with one of...himself. After all, Obama is the one he's been waiting for!

It’s probably a combination of Churchill’s anti-socialism and anti-Islam. No wonder Ozero hates Churchill to the point where he would embarrass the Brits by returning the bust unasked. It’s like showing sunlight and garlic to a vampire.

I can’t imagine the thought process that led to the decision to return the statue. What an awful public relations decision. Perhaps they have an explanation that we haven’t heard yet. What could it be? I’m dumbfounded!

More like Hitler or Goebbels. Both of those persons fit his type of leadership.

Even more "allegations" to that Kenya connection, Churchill bust casts shadow over special relationship with the US

...........Mr Obama shows little evidence of the Anglophilia that led his predecessors to pepper speeches with quotations from Churchill. Instead, there have been suggestions that he has reason to disdain the former Prime Minister. In 1952 Churchill declared the Kenya emergency in the homeland of Mr Obama’s father, sending in troops to crush the Mau Mau rebellion against colonial rule. Among the Kenyans who were detained without trial and allegedly tortured by the British was Hussein Onyango Obama, the President’s grandfather...............

.............Shortly before Mr Obama’s inauguration, the Jacob Epstein bronze is understood to have been removed and placed in storage by White House curators. Recent photographs show that a bust of Abraham Lincoln, one of the new President’s heroes, has been moved to take the position once occupied by Churchill.

The bronze was lent to George Bush by Tony Blair in 2001 from the Government Art Collection for the duration of his presidency. It is now due to be returned.

Hmmmmmm. Whether any of that is true, Obama's return of the bust is an overt snub to our ally, especially after they asked him to please keep the bust.
