Agreed. Thought I felt the same way about Zig Zag Zell Miller. He TALKED a good game, but when the Senate was divided 50-50 and his vote would have made the difference between GOP control of the Senate or Tom Daschle in charge, "conservative Democrat" Zig Zag voted to hand the reigns to Daschle. It never damped the enthusiasm of his fan club on FR though.

No, Shuler has been getting hammered on the phone from his own district to not support this bill, that politico.com reported last week he went to Pelosi on both knees and got her blessings that if he voted no on this bill, she wouldn't punish him later.
He's up for re-election in 2010 also. So all of this is just a bunch of smoke and mirrors.
