I'm not sure if this is exactly funny. I guess you could call it interesting. Maybe we could take votes on who should play Blago. I'm still feeling sorry for him after watching more of today's video interviews. That's a bad sign.

Rick Moranis:

Blago:

You do the math.

Cheers!

I really like him too. It's so sad he has such a hard time handling life itself. Needs the Lord in his life.

How about a “buffed out” Pee Wee Herman?

Rick Moranis has a passable physical resemblance, but he lacks the ability to project the proper persona.

I nominate William H. Macy, and the movie should be produced and directed by the Cohen brothers... /g

Blago should play Blago because he's good looking, has boundless ego (like most actors), is very charismatic, and he's a good actor My four year old son was in the room when the news came on about Blagojevich being arrested. Trying to explain, I told him that Blagojevich was a "bad guy". About a day later my son asked me, "How could he be a bad guy when he's so handsome?"

I had to explain that one can't judge a person's character by how good-looking they are, etc. But it occurred to me that probably a lot of adults think this way too and maybe that is how he got elected.

This is the libs biggest problem, and the GOP's, too. (We need more average looking women at the head of the party!) But see, Blago is providing a lot of lessons to kids. Wonder what he would say. My mother, who graduated from a prestigious drama school, saw his performance of "If" and said he's a natural actor and missed his calling.

Travolta.

Yeah, that would work. Both have close-set eyes, though Blago's are extremely that way. The only other actors with eyes close enough together to play him would be John Malkovich and John Lithgow, but neither of them have the rest of the face or more importantly, hair.

I was reading a copy of the Sun-Times the other week (copy I found on the train back from Chicago...no way I'm going to actually BUY that propaganda mill), where Sneed's columnist suggested the now A-list comedic actor Steve Carell would make a good Blago. I never thought of that but I'd have to agree. Give him a big goofy black toupee, bright blue contact lens, an ill-fitting suit, and he'd nail the guy. Carrell's past acting roles are perfect... he can play snarky, sneaky, cocky, incompetent, bald-faced liar, and clever schemer at all once.

I think the opening scene of the film should be Blago's election night victory rally when he was elected to Congress in November '96. With the crowd cheering and Blago booming into a mic "Tonight's vote sends a clear message to the far right-wing in this country. Your revolution is over! Common sense has prevailed" (yes, he really said that in real life). Followed it with Blago strutting on stage Elvis-style while the crowd chants "BLAH-GO! BLAH-GO! BLAH-GO!" (don't think this happened in real life, but that's what "creative license" is for), then a simple fade to black and the opening credits "BLAGO: THE MOVIE". Great intro.

Of course Hollywood will never do it. Good luck getting a film made about a crooked Dem when he's still in office, let alone after he leaves. They're too busy making another dozen movies vilifying Reagan, Nixon, and Dubya.

But an Oliver Stone type exaggerated, mocking send-up of Blago would be perfect right now. Provided I do the screenplay. ;-D

Somebody...a liar who is sleazy, slick and slimey...Clinton! But he’s too old now.

How old is ‘Chip’ from “My Three Sons”?....Stanley Livingston. Too old, almost 60.

I was just about to post Steve Carell, too! I was surprised that he hadn’t been mentioned yet.

Piece o' cake for Carell, since Blago isn't too far afield from the Brick Tamland character that he played in "Anchorman."

Tougher ones:

In the Blago movie... who should play...

Patty Blagojevich?

Rob Blagojevich? (the Gov's brother)

Rahm Emanuel?

Roland Burris?

Jesse Jackson Jr.?

Judy Barr Topinka? (hard to capture her on film)

Rich Whitney? (Blago's green party opponent)

Pat Quinn?

Mike Madigan?

Lisa Madigan?

Emil Jones?

Jan Schakowsky?

Jim Ryan?

John Harris?

Ed Genson?

Mayor Daley?

David Alexrod?

Obama can just be played a voice-over actor as a smooth talking bad boy over the phone, since Obama was AWOL from Illinois during his four years "serving" the people of Illinois as U.S. Senator.

SCENE FROM BLAGO: THE MOVIE

"These allegations are ridiculous! Look at this latest one, Dave. Saying I meet with Jesse Jackson Jr. I haven't even been in the same room with the guy in over two years!"

"Ummmm, sir." (quietly) "He's standing behind you."

Governor glances over his shoulder, turns red. Pauses.

"True. But aside from that. I haven't been in the same room with him in two years!"
