Have you ever noticed that a 5-year fluctuation in temperature going down is irrelevant to MMGW nuts but a 5-year warming period was always proof positive of it. When global temperatures drop, we need to understand the long term aspect of global warming. But when it is a warmer year than the previous, we're all going to die in catastrophic floods within the next 20 years.
Global warming or climate change is a perfect scientific theory. It cannot be falsified. Any contrary evidence is dismissed. Skeptics are demonized and uncertainty in conclusions is ignored. Difficulties about forecasting far into the future are not even considered. Reasoning about causation is limited to “the change cannot be attributed to anything else.” Politicians ensure an increasing share of research dollars. The scientific community responds with an ever increasing appetite for doomsday research whose findings justify even larger research budgets.
