Obama received 75% of Jewish Vote
The American Thinker | January 22, 2009 | Randall Hoven

January 22, 2009 Obama Got 75% of Jewish Vote Randall Hoven The results are in. According to Commentary Magazine ,

"Obama ended up receiving 53 percent of the vote nationwide, but around 75 to 78 percent of the Jewish vote. Only 20 to 23 percent of Jewish voters pulled the lever for McCain, who received 46 percent of the vote overall. Obama scored a greater share of Jewish votes than John Kerry did in 2004. More striking, his performance almost equaled that of Al Gore among Jews in 2000, when Gore's running mate was Joseph Lieberman, an Orthodox Jew."

As much as people talk about how groups of voters are going to vote, they always end up voting about the same way, year after year after year. Elections are won by how about 5% of those who vote, meaning about 2% of all those eligible to vote, vote.

In my opinion, the idea of trying to win "the Jewish vote", or the black vote or the Latino vote is ludicrous. Obama could hang out with anti-Semitic radicals and get endorsements from Muammar Qaddafi while McCain could pledge his own life to defend Israel, yet about 75% of Jews would still vote for Obama - because he's the Democrat. This is not rocket science. Jews vote Democrat, about 75% of them do, no matter what. And night follows day.

Feel free to see whatever you like to see in this statistical ink-blot. What I see is the utter futility of Republicans trying to play group politics to win votes. Or moving left to win votes.

There is no payoff in the Republican Party moving left. The Democrats own that brand. Let them have it. Republicans will win votes only by being a legitimate alternative, something different from the Democrats.

Proof we should sit back and enjoy Obama admin screwing over Israel - and pointing out who is to blame. No sympathy whatsoever!

I’ve always thought that God would curse those against Israel. How ironic that US Jews will be among those.

There is no point in Republicans becoming "Democrat-lite". People who want a Democrat will vote for the real thing, and the people who want a conservative Republican will stay home, or at least not donate as much as they would to a real conservative.

Elections are won by getting your base motivated, because these are where you get your donors and activists from.

I have no sympathy for American Jew voters. They continue to support Israel and vote the wrong way to do so.

At some point you gotta say, "There is No Fixing Stupid"

Funny, George W. Bush ran as a Conservative and won two elections.

I heard his stump speech in person during both elections. I agreed with 90% of what he said.

But, he didn’t always govern as a Conservative. And he lost his popularity. We lost the Congress, then the White House.

Will the GOP learn the lesson? Probably not.

In your commentary, you should note that among Israeli-Americans (such as Mrs. MWT), the reverse voting trend was true -— 85% voted for McCain.

Similarly, the voting patterns of observant Jews was indistinguishable from Southern Baptists — and has been for years.

One again, the issue is the sample of whom one is calling “Jewish” -— someone with some random Jewish ancestor -— or someone who actually practices Judaism.

Harming Israel because JINOs (Jews In Name Only) are pathetic liberals is like attacking the Pope because Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, and Ted Kennedy are nominal Roman Catholics.

It’s a silly and tired argument.

“American Jew voters. They continue to support Israel”

JINOs don’t give a damn about Israel.

He talked like a conservative in his speeches. But he governed like a liberal. And the Republican party leaders say the party must become more liberal. Hogwash!

Excellent point - but the US doesn’t send millions of tax payers $$ to the Pope - and I, as a practicing Catholic, have a huge problem with the lib dems getting a pass from the Church - have expressed this to clergy many times.

G-d will have sympathy and the concern of a loving father for Israel, but what do you think G-d will have for people with the attitude you expressed?

Will He give you what you ask for others? Think about it.

I came to the same conclusion this week. You can give a child a great education, but if he is stupid to begin with, he will still be stupid at the end.

In English, the word is God. If you want to drop your vowels, I would suggest you write all your posts in Hebrew.

We can shave off fractions of every D voting block.

A few socially conservative Latinos and African Americans may come to Conservatism through their anti-abortion, pro-marriage stands.

A few national security pro-Israel Jews may come to Conservatism through our defense of Israel and fight against Islamic terror.

A few economically conservative Latinos may come to Conservatism due to confiscatory tax rates.

Long-run elections are exactly about marginalia like this. If we can shave off a point or two from each voting block of the Dems, without compromising principles, that is a pure win.

So, we have to redouble our efforts to sell our message to the movable portion of Ds.

The Catholics’ effort during the inauguration to use a Pro-Life message to show that Barack is only alive because he wasn’t aborted is spot on. See separate thread.

I just don’t get the “liberal Jews are stupid,” so let’s screw Israel because they’re Jews, too logic.

Why should we harm Israeli Jews (who, again, vote Republican) because non-observant American Jews are stupid?

That’s just silly.
