No so. He even managed to screw this up. Commuted sentence not a pardon. That still means they are convicted felons.
Clock is still broken.

They still committed a crime. Commuted works for me, they do not deserve to be in jail, BUT they still did abuse their power by filing a false report ... Law enforcement/border enforcement is something they never deserve to be EVER again.

They did, after all, break the law by trying to cover up the shooting. The commutation is fair.

They committed the crime of attempting to cover up a shooting, which was a stupid thing to do, when all other agents in similar situations (and even those who killed illegals) followed protocol and were cleared after review.

Commutation is appropriate for those who commit a crime but who are sentenced too harshly. Pardons should be for the innocent, not just because we don’t like how a case was handled. I doubt there’s anyone here who doesn’t despise this case’s history, but there are too many who think these two agents shouldn’t be bound by the same laws that their fellow agents were bound by.

And rightly so. Shooting at an unarmed suspect, tampering with a crime scene, and filing a false report are serious crimes. They deserved to be punished for it, but ten years was excessive. Bush did the right thing for a change.

The agents were a little excessive in what they did.

They were dealing with people who were a lot excessive.

Both of these agents should have had their sentences commuted a year ago. Their “crimes” should have been erased.
