Hamas announces ceasefire in Gaza

The Palestinian militant group Hamas has announced an immediate ceasefire with Israel in Gaza.

A statement read by a Hamas spokesman said the group would hold fire for a week to give Israel time to withdraw its forces from the Gaza Strip.

The move came hours after a unilateral Israeli ceasefire came into effect.

The cessation of hostilities was earlier cast into doubt by fresh rocket fire into Israel and an Israeli air strike on militants in Gaza.

High alert

Hamas' deputy chief in Syria, Moussa Abou Marzouk, said the ceasefire was in the name of all "Palestinian resistance factions".

"We... announce a ceasefire of our factions in the Gaza Strip and we stress that our demand is the withdrawal of the enemy forces from the Gaza Strip within a week, along with the opening of all the crossings for the entry of humanitarian aid, food and other necessities for our people in the Gaza Strip."

They need ammo. Must be needing to build fresh tunnels.

I give it two weeks and Hamas will have built up enough rockets to start all over again

So they announced a hudna? Big deal. Israel is not going to lift the blockade or reopen the border crossings. Hamas is going to rearm and initiate another round. The tiger doesn't change its stripes. This "ceasefire" hasn't vanquished Hamas.

'Oh crap, we're losing!!!'

So, stop shooting and tell the enemy to go away. After all, winning a war wouldn't be "fair."

Article Seven: The Universality of Hamas. By virtue of the distribution of Muslims, who pursue the cause of the Hamas, all over the globe, and strive for its victory, for the reinforcement of its positions and for the encouragement of its Jihad, the Movement is a universal one. It is apt to be that due to the clarity of its thinking, the nobility of its purpose and the loftiness of its objectives. It is in this light that the Movement has to be regarded, evaluated and acknowledged. Whoever denigrates its worth, or avoids supporting it, or is so blind as to dismiss its role, is challenging Fate itself. Whoever closes his eyes from seeing the facts, whether intentionally or not, will wake up to find himself overtaken by events, and will find no excuses to justify his position. Priority is reserved to the early comers. Oppressing those who are closest to you, is more of an agony to the soul than the impact of an Indian sword. “And unto thee have we revealed the Scripture with the truth, confirming whatever scripture was before it, and a watcher over it. So judge between them by that which Allah hath revealed, and follow not their desires away from the truth which has come unto thee. For each we have appointed a divine law and a traced-out way. Had Allah willed, He could have made you one community. But that He may try you by that which he has given you [He has made you as you are]. So vie with one another in good works. Unto Allah, you will all return. He will then inform you of that wherein you differ.” Hamas is one of the links in the Chain of Jihad in the confrontation with the Zionist invasion. It links up with the setting out of the Martyr Izz a-din al-Qassam and his brothers in the Muslim Brotherhood who fought the Holy War in 1936; it further relates to another link of the Palestinian Jihad and the Jihad and efforts of the Muslim Brothers during the 1948 War, and to the Jihad operations of the Muslim Brothers in 1968 and thereafter. But even if the links have become distant from each other, and even if the obstacles erected by those who revolve in the Zionist orbit, aiming at obstructing the road before the Jihad fighters, have rendered the pursuance of Jihad impossible; nevertheless, the Hamas has been looking forward to implement Allah’s promise whatever time it might take. The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him! This will not apply to the Gharqad, which is a Jewish tree (cited by Bukhari and Muslim).

Article Eight: The Slogan of the Hamas Allah is its goal, the Prophet its model, the Qur’an its Constitution, Jihad its path and death for the case of Allah its most sublime belief.

They do not have so much as a thimble to "give" to Israel! Hamas is about as delusional as the Øerobots here in the U.S.

You're kicking our ass so we demand a conditional ceasefire so we can move our weapons to secure locations and import ordnance through tunnels and UN ambulances.

Memo to Israel: U.S. installs crypto-Muslim-Communist Kenyan president on Tuesday.

Hamas has only to hold on until noon Tuesday when their bailout package will whirr beneath the executive order automatic pen.

It’s too late unless they do it today or tomorrow but I wouldn’t mind Tuesday myself...and a follow-up Wednesday too for that matter. :)

I think Israel should develop an unmammed, fully automated weapon system that obliterates every launch site within minutes of a rocket launch at Israel.

Just explain to the entire world that they’re in a fight for self-preservation and anytime an enemy launches an attack, it’s out of their hands now. Once the cow has left the barn there’s nothing they can do. It’s now truly up to the world and the terrorists and the U.N. to stop the violence, not Israel.

Since the world ignores that innocent Israeli civilians are murdered, and then has the audacity to blame Israel for defending itself, Israel has no other choice now.

Forewarned and all that.

They left gaza years ago, as demanded, and yet they still get attacked.

Then, the next step if this doesn’t work is nuclear weapons, tactical at first...

the U.N. doesn’t have the cajones to confront terrorists like hamas or hezbollah or Iran, or ANYONE AT ALL, so what does Israel have to fear by defending itself this way?
