Got to hand it to the Brits on this one. At least they meted out some semblance of punishment. Here in America, the judge and jury would’ve swooned over his celebrity status and given him a slap on the wrist.

In 2006 a judge ordered Boy George to sweep up trash for 5 days in New York City. Seems the Boy falsely reported a burglary at his lower Manhattan apartment. When the cops arrived, instead of a masked burglar, they found a stash of cocaine.

It took under an hour on Monday for the singer, dressed in an orange vest and Capri pants, to get into a fight with the media. "You think you're better than me?” he yelled. "Go home. Let me do my community service." Part of his bad mood stems from his plea for an alternate form of punishment, which was clearly denied. George wanted to help teenagers make a public service announcement, hold a fashion and makeup workshop, serve as a D.J. at an HIV/AIDS benefit, or do telephone outreach.

Fifteen months? Big deal. Wasn't this crime similar to the one that put OJ Simpson away for at least fifteen years?

He’d have gone to “rehab” for about 6 months and nothing else would have happened.
