Iraqi Forces Detain 16 Criminal Suspects

WASHINGTON, Jan. 15, 2009 – Iraqi security forces, with the assistance of U.S. soldiers, detained 16 suspected criminals throughout Iraq on Jan. 13.

Iraqi soldiers, with the help of U.S. soldiers from the 1st Infantry Division’s 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Combined Arms Battalion, detained nine suspects during combined operations in Baghdad’s Kadhamiyah and Mansour districts.

Seven other suspects, including one believed to have kidnapped a boy rescued by Iraqi forces on Jan. 7, were arrested in the Balad area. They are suspected of weapons trafficking and attacks on coalition forces.
