FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE No. 09-04
Governor Palin Says to Media, There You Go Again
January 8, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today expressed dismay at continuing efforts in the media to take her comments out of context to create adversarial situations.
Ironically, the latest media eruption concerning the governor came out of an interview she gave to a filmmaker who is creating a documentary on distortions by the national press.
Gov. Palin gave the interview Monday as one of many voices contributing to the film Media Malpractice How Obama Got Elected, concerning the performance of the media last fall. The filmmaker posted excerpts from the interview on YouTube.com, which then led to misleading reports in the press.
Particularly troubling was a post on Politico.com titled, Palin: Media Goes Easy on Kennedy. The headline inflames the governors quote in the transcript, in which she answered a question about media treatment of the prospect that Caroline Kennedy would be appointed to the U.S. Senate: Its going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.
I was not commenting at all on Caroline Kennedy as a prospective U.S. senator, but rather on the seemingly arbitrary ways in which news organizations determine the level and kind of scrutiny given to those who aspire to public office, Gov. Palin said today. In fact, I consider Ms. Kennedy qualified and experienced, and she could serve New York well.
The governors interview came as news organizations pursued erroneous and often outrageous leads on a variety of non-issues.
Just this week, false stories in the media surfaced alleging improper influence by the Palin administration or the governor herself. In one case, a state union alleged that the administration delayed serving an arrest warrant on the mother of Levi Johnston, the father of the governors grandson. The union admitted within 48 hours that the allegation was not true.
In another case, an irresponsible talk show host in Anchorage alleged in a newspaper column that the governor must have intervened to get a job for her future son-in-law, circumventing eligibility rules for the position. Again, the allegation was immediately discredited by proof that the governor did not influence Levis employment.
Meanwhile, bloggers, the Atlantic magazine and even the Anchorage Daily News continue to give credence to the sensational allegation that the governors child, Trig, is not hers.
As a public official, I expect criticism and I expect to be held accountable for how I govern, Gov. Palin said. But the personal, salacious nature of recent reporting, and often the refusal of the media to correct obvious mistakes, unfortunately discredits too many in journalism today, making it difficult for many Americans to believe what they see in the media.

"With such limited amounts of hard news in your recently streamlined paper, I believe it's more important than ever to make sure what you print is truthful and accurate."
"I do hope for nothing but the best for our local newspaper in these trying economic times that have hit your parent company."
Good, she’s fighting back, about time those with the (R) did so.
I just love it when she talks like Reagan. Ronny would be proud
i idea of a normal, intelligent, pretty woman of achievement as a role model,
must drive the msm mad!
Please tell me she was misquoted in her own press release.
you may have a lovefest with her, but over half the money giving Republicans in the USA find her a tad polarizing, a tad vindictive (hopefully she’ll learn some tact in the next four years) and a little loose on current events. Plus she really needs to get her family (and future in-laws and ex-in laws) squared away - you are who your friends are family are.
Palin nails it again! You Go, Girlfriend!
bill clinton’s family and friends did not hurt his career!
say, why would a normal woman upset so many people?
She said that because she didn’t want to start anything with the Kennedy family. She was being gracious, which is something she does better then anyone else. She knows what happens when you screw with the Kennedy family, you either are found dead next to a tree or thrown overboard on a boat
She’s the only man we got
look at Hussein Obama friends and voters elected him President..
Palin’s family and her in-laws should be off limits...
I hope she does run for President, I will work my fanny Off for her...I hope she continues to speak up and speak out.
Again I love that she’s normal (and yes even attractive)
However, she allows herself to demonstrate qualities that go against the grain of being the average joe/hockey mom and not ready to serve when she allows her personal life to heavily come to the forefront (which has been a literal trainwreck of late) as well as not being sharp on the issues. Even a dork like Clinton was pretty savvy especially with a majority of his own party. Personally, I like Huckabee over her and overall I think that Romney might make a comeback.
ROFL....dang straight!
i think rombot is a liberal.
Sarah is very gracious and diplomatic. But I hardly think she was afraid of getting kneecapped by the Dead Kennedy’s (80’s punk rock band).
Maybe it’s one of those lessons that I should have learned....like when you have nothing nice to say about someone but you can’t keep your mouth shut (and I can’t)...just make up something nice.
It would be kinda difficult to go against the Kennedy family and still remain in politics. Even many Conservatives, for some unknown reason, respect them. Or they’re just scared of them.
Even JFK sucked but ir’s not PC to say that.
Romney comes off as fake. Overall, I’d go with Mark Sanford right now.
Palin = correct
Media = hopelessly lost and bias.
Stop right there! Ready to serve? She's one of the only few governors right now running UNDER budget! She ready right now!
Agreed!!! LOL!!!
