We Worship You, Jesus, for Your Unmerited Protection of our Land. For Every Terrorist Attack You've Thwarted, we Sing Out Your Fervent Praise. Beyond Help?

Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” —Luke 23:43

A 110-year-old Israeli Bedouin shepherd was admitted to a Beersheba hospital while experiencing a heart attack. In spite of his age, doctors worked hard to save him. The man was thought to be the oldest heart patient ever to be treated successfully with anticlotting drugs. A hospital spokesperson reported that the Bedouin returned to his tent in the Negev Desert to tend his goats.

The care given to this 110-year-old man faintly echoes the way Jesus responded to those people we consider beyond help. His ability and willingness to go beyond social barriers to help lepers and social outcasts went far beyond the normal expectations of what a good person would do.

Even in the agony of His own suffering, Jesus reached out to a dying man everyone else regarded as beyond help. The man was a criminal, condemned to die, and only hours from entering a lost eternity. In that moment, Jesus responded to the man’s cry for help and said, “Today you will be with Me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43).

Do you know someone who seems beyond help today? Perhaps you think you are without hope. The God of the Bible specializes in giving help to those regarded as so old, so guilty, or so weak as to be beyond help.

Most Gracious Heavenly Father, my heart is filled with the greatest sorrow, and my tears are overflowing, for soon our Brother President will leave the People's House. No matter the circumstance in our national life, how comforting to know that a man of God dwelt within its walls ... that he respected every aspect of its past and prayed for its very future. Love of country was written on his face ... love of its people was his joy. You braced him with steel against unrelenting and vicious attacks, yet not an unkind word passed his lips

Bless this Servant of God in a mighty way, O Lord ... may his years be filled with the joy of family and the love of friends and the continued prayers of the Body of Christ. No matter what history writes, the only words that count are these ... “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

O Holy Spirit, breathe on us the breath of revival ... turn the change that people are looking for into a change of heart. Wash us in the Redeeming Blood of the Lamb, that we might follow in Your footsteps. Turn our feet from the path of evil and deception, lest we perish. May righteousness reign in our White House and in our Court House ... from the lofty to the lowly. May our beloved country continue still to be a light for freedom and a guardian of liberty ... may the Peace of Jerusalem remain steadfast in our hearts.
