Spanish Pro-Abortion Politician Shown Late Term Abortions During Interview on TV Expresses Shock

SPAIN, January 8, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The pro-abortion vice president of Spain's ruling Socialist Worker's Party was surprised recently when he was unexpectedly shown a video showing the gruesome details of late term abortions during a national television interview, and asked to comment on them.

Jose Blanco was being interviewed on the "Cat to the Water" show produced by Intereconomia TV, which early last year did an expose on the abortion industry using a hidden camera.  The network filmed and broadcast abortions of babies well beyond 24 weeks gestation, showing them being injected with poison and then thrown in the trash after their premature birth (see LifeSiteNews coverage at http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2007/dec/07121401.html).

After being shown footage of abortions from the reports, Blanco admitted that he was moved by what he had seen, and stated "I am against abortion.  Abortion is an exceptional situation."  However, he attempted to defend his party's pro-abortion position, asserting that the purpose was to protect women and doctors.

Blanco's party, which has held power since 2004, is currently seeking to liberalize Spain's already loose abortion laws in response to numerous scandals occurring in late 2007 and early 2008, in which abortion clinics were found to be manufacturing diagnoses of a "psychological" health risk to the mother in order to justify late term abortions according to Spanish law.

If passed, new law will replace such requirements with maximum time periods for abortions, allowing them to secure an abortion without a psychological justification.  According to experts who testified before a congressional committee created by the Socialist Worker's Party, the new law will increase the number of abortions performed in the country, which is already one of the highest rates in all of Europe.

Yep, "personally opposed" and "safe and legal and rare," we've heard it all before.

Socialist Worker’s Party
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Death Eaters Party would be a more appropriate name.

Now that we know you can talk the talk, it's time to walk the walk. Show the people of Spain that you value human life.

"the purpose was to protect women and doctors."

So he wants to protect the people who perform these horrible acts.

1. Why is he determined to protect the guilty while allowing the innocent to be slaughtered? Does that make him much better than the wheel guy at a robbery?

2. Who is there to protect the children?

“After being shown footage of abortions from the reports, Blanco admitted that he was moved by what he had seen,”

The vast majority of those who see what an abortion actually does (through means like this, or a written description); would be moved to be opposed to it.

To many people have a strange disconnect about abortion. I think that many really don't understand the core fact that a human life is being murdered and dismembered.

I hope and pray that this man will have ghastly and terrible nightmares of what he has seen, every night of his life, until he moves to protect the unborn.

I pray that his conscience will give him no peace, until he recants the political expediency of his party.

He has seen videos of the flesh and blood that cries out to heaven for justice, and he wants to protect the women and doctors.

What a spineless fool.

I am chuckling...I read these threads, am about to respond, read your post and...wonder if you are reading my mind! Exactly!! It was an impact enough to make his personal view point change, but...not enough to move him from hiding behind the party’s stance.

I think every “pro-choice” person should be forced to see a video of an abortion. And if that doesn’t change their mind, then they are heartless.

Ive been a public speaking instructor at a community college for many years, and thankfully, Ive never had a student present a pro-abortion speech. I have had a handful of pro-life speeches, including several on partial birth abortion complete with illustrated renditions of this hideous act. I have been shocked to find out that the vast majority of my students (ages 18-35) would admit they had NO idea that this violence against babies has/is being performed. Some have left the classroom changed by what they learned. The article you posted reminds me of a comment by Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life: "America will not reject abortion until it sees abortion."

Where have I heard this before? We had to exterminate the Indians to protect settlers, we had to kill the jews to protect Europe, we had to starve Georgian peasants to build a better communist nation...... I guess the ends do justify the means.

I wish I could believe that was true of all of them. The problem is, many do understand exactly what's being done to whom, and they approve. Blanco is a perfect example. I have to go throw up now.

We're talking about an abomination that is performed EVERY 24 SECONDS in the United States, if anyone doesn't know what infanticide involves it is because they refuse to acknowledge what they condone.

This is absolutely unconscionable, along with everything else about this situation.

As Fr. Pavone often repeats, society won't end abortion until it sees abortion.

Show the American people what an abortion is!
