Pelosi's Power Grab: Her Plan to Shackle the GOP
Newsmax ^ | January 7, 2009 | Jim Meyers

Posted on 01/08/2009 7:19:28 AM PST by conservativegramma

Republican Rep. Roy Blunt tells Newsmax that rule changes pushed through the House on Tuesday by the Democratic majority leave “the deck stacked to shove a Speaker Pelosi agenda through the House.”

The former Minority Whip from Missouri also declared that the changes are an “absolute contradiction to everything Barack Obama said” about nonpartisan politics during the campaign.

One change puts new restrictions on motions to “recommit” a bill to the committee that approved it in order to add new amendments.

The new rule allows the full House to reconsider a bill without delay, depriving the minority party of an opportunity to add its input on the proposed legislation.

I’m all “hopechangey” about this...

Like I’ve been saying, it’s like watching a drunk self-destruct.

You wonder if he’ll die before he hits bottom and decides to recover.

The Republicans don’t know how to use power when they are in charge. The Democrats know how to wield power, whether in control of Congress or not.

Classic case of projection -- the Pubbies expect the 'Rats to be as spineless as they themselves are. (The 'Rats are pretty spineless sometimes, but trying to outdo the Pubbies in that department is like trying to win a limbo contest with an earthworm.)

Well, gee golly gosh, Roy, did you expect anything different from the Democrats? Rats see that it isn’t about cocktail parties and being loved, Roy. It’s about POWER. It’s about furthering your agenda. It’s about *winning*. When the wheel finally turns and you get back in power—if you ever get back in power—you’d damned well best remember that and crush the Rats instead of sucking up to them. It’s what they’ll do to you.

The democraps are going to make sure that the Republicans NEVER, EVER, REGAIN POWER. Period. The “fairness doctrine” will be re-instituted and made even more powerful under force of federal law, not just FCC rule. Harry Reid will “go nuclear” to neuter the Republican minority’s filibuster power. None of this will be reported by the MSM to the general public. All the while blaming the Republicans for everything under the sun, from deficits to global warming to the heartbreak of psoriasis. People won’t know any better, they’ll just believe everything the MSM spoon feeds them. Obama will be a demigod and the republicans will be satan incarnate.............

“Her Plan to Shackle the GOP”

####

The gutless foofs in the Republican party, wholly bereft of any gonadal mass could be easily shackled and subdued by great grandma Hermoine and her friend Mabel on a break from their knitting bee.

****Martella pointed out that when Republicans took over Congress in 1994 in the Newt Gingrich revolution, they offered conciliatory gestures to the Democrats regarding input and participation. “Now with what Pelosi has done, does it make the GOP upset with itself for playing Mr. Nice Guy back then?” he asked. **********

You guys were suckers then, and even more stupid now if you think Democrats give a damn about what Republicans think.
You played Nice guy and got it shoved up your butts back then and it just goes on and on now. They laughed at you guys when you had the majority, because it was obvious you didnt know how to use it.

Pelosi is showing you the way. Learn. When you get it back in 2010 . Do it right.

Exactly. The GOP is pathetic. They controlled congress for 12 years and 6 of those years were while controlling the exec. It’s like they’re saying, “We didn’t do any of the stuff we wanted while in power. It’s not fair! boohoohoohoohoo!”

Exactly my thoughts. Think about it: IF the GOP were ever to regain power this rule change would then affect the Dims. Consequently they would never be seeking this type of change in rules UNLESS they KNOW they have power PERMANENTLY.

IMO we've just seen the last free election in this country. The Dims plan to further empower ACORN and others and every election hence forth will be controlled by the DNC.

It’s democracy, folks. The American people elected these bums to lead us. It’s their legal right to do. OK; go ahead. Lead. Let them pass their legislation.

Either it does the country good, and we all benefit (yeah, right) or it does the country harm. It’s up to the American people to act appropriately.

I believe we should let them ram through their bad bills. Vote against them, but don’t obstruct them. The dems are going to ruin this country. Right now there is simply no stopping it. If the Republicans try to stop them through obstructionist parliamentarian tactics, guess who is going to get blamed for the disaster?

I have friends and family who believe Obama is pro-life, so I see the MSM has the power to fool a ton of people, most of the time.

There's no way folks are going to believe that it wasn't the free market that caused the financial meltdown, versus it being caused by Carter, Clinton, Dem-crony-businesspeople, and ridiculous gov't policies. That's WAY too complicated for folks to stop consuming to pay it any attention.

Just leave it all to the Messsiah.
