Years ago I installed a light fixture in my bathroom ceiling. In it are two 250 watt heat lamps (the clear kind). It’s great on a chilly morning after I get out of the shower, and I’m sure it helps with SAD problems. It’s almost like sunlight.
The bulbs last a long time, but I will stock up to make sure the bulbs outlive me.
I will fight to the death if the Energy Police ever try to take that away from me.
CFLs take some time to reach full brightness in my experience,as much as five minutes.I use CFLs in places where I need light all the time for safety but prefer incandescents for everything else. The blue glass incandescents make more natural appearing light, and are best for reading or tasks.Cheap LED lighting can be found the next few weeks disguised as Christmas decorations on clearance.I find a 70 or 90 bulb string of white LEDs costing $5 makes a good pathway or hallway light.I intend to try poking the bulbs through a piece of perfboard(pegboard) for a cabin light.
Keep your eyes open for special pricing and stock up on incandescents .
Again, thanks to G.W.Bush's inability to use a veto pen we have more un-needed change forced on us.I wonder if the price of Democratic support for the WOT was mothballing the veto?
