Turkish message to Greek pilots over Farmakonisi raises concern in Athens - January 5, 2009 - Tensions in the Aegean are on the rise again after Turkey suggested that Greek helicopters were violating the neighboring countryʼs air space while flying over the small Dodecanese island of Farmakonisi. The alarm was raised in Greece when, on New Yearʼs Eve, Turkish air defense control communicated with Greek helicopters via the wireless and asked them to leave the area because they were violating Turkeyʼs national air space.Greece protests Turkish airspace violations - Jan 7, 2009 - Greece's defence ministry said Turkish fighter jets violated Greek airspace, harassing a military aircraft searching for a boat loaded with illegal immigrants in the Aegean Sea. "These Turkish acts are outrageous," Bakoyanni said in a statement.
