Editorial: 2009, A Year for Life, Marriage and Freedom
Catholic Online ^ | 1/02/09 | Deacon Keith Fournier

We have begun a New Year. These first days are a time for reflection and resolution. I have noted a deep depression in the ranks of some committed to the great human rights struggle of our age, the struggle to defend and protect the first right, the right to life from conception to natural death. Similarly, I have noted weariness among those committed to defending true marriage - and the family founded upon it - against the new cultural revolutionaries who seek to compel society to grant a legal equivalency between homosexual partnerships and marriage and enforce their new order with the Police Power of the State...

We, who know the truth about life, marriage and freedom must learn how to present our positions more persuasively, utilize the media more effectively, elect representatives who have the courage to defend human life, protect true marriage and promote freedom and engage those misusing the Courts to compel adherence to their new cultural revolution on their own turf. Now is not the time to withdraw from political and cultural engagement. It is time to learn from our mistakes and redouble our efforts.

This is not the first time that the great ideas informed by faith have been under siege. Our struggle has just begun. Let’s get to work. Now it begins.

Homosexual sexual acts are simply homosexual sexual acts. Our bodies do not lie, they speak the language written within their constitution and confirmed in the Natural Law which binds us all. Marriage - and the family founded upon it - is not an antiquated institution but paves the path to the future. Any efforts to use the Police Power of the State to force all citizens to give the same legal status to homosexual paramours and true marriage do not serve the common good.

I like the phrase, "the Police Power of the State."

It should be used more often in conservative dialog. Too often we argue using the phrase, "It shouldn't be the government's business."

I do not approve of so called "civil unions" for homosexuals. It's the state acting contrary to the same Natural Law that gives the state its raison d'etre. It is the state joining together that which God will not. It is the state circumventing God by giving its own "blessing" to a homosexual pair.

Well, that’s a start!

I’ve read a couple of articles here and there that when someone wrote a list of all the qualities someone wanted in a spouse, and put it in God’s hands, a person would show up who had those qualities. :o)

This will get you going:

You’re very welcome. I’ll remember you in prayer, that the Lord will send you a special lady soon.

Two more tips:

1. Wait on the Lord, His timing, His ways.

2. Ask Him to show you any work on yourself you may have to cooperate with Him about, so you’ll be prepared to meet her.

God bless you! :o)
