Obama and the case for missile defense

But Obama hedged support for missile defense, saying he would back a "pragmatic and cost-effective" system that "does not divert resources from other national security priorities until we are positive the technology will protect the American public." And he broadly warned against the "weaponization" of space.

Once in the White House, President Obama will need to clear up such ambiguities. Poland and other allies are watching.

To dispel dangerous doubts, Obama should move quickly on his promise to "spare no effort to protect Americans from the threats posed by nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles."

Personally, I hope his decision is made for him here, since he (and Congress) will kill our capability, if left to his own devices.

Seeing a city go up in Pakistan (or the whole country of Iran go up) might just awaken enough of this country to stop the Democrats.

Let’s hope.

The most incompetent and ill-qualified fool in history is now president. The stuck-on-stupid-and-racism crowd are now in control. WE are in trouble.

"does not divert resources from other national security priorities until we are positive the technology will protect the American public."

To the Obamination, the most pressing national security priority is the complete socialist takeover of America, and he fully intends to help fund that takeover by buying perpetual votes with social programs, PAID FOR by savings in scrapping unproven military technology, such as missile defense.

Make no mistake, our military is about to be gutted, drawn and quartered, to give the RAT bastards the money they need to buy votes forever from worthless pu$$y americans who have their hand out.

Hussein's sole "national security priority" is disarming America.

Hope for what? Another Cold War with Russia. We don’t have the money for it. Obama would be a fool to provoke that by ringing Russia’s borders with such a system. We’re already bankrupt.

it’s amusing to watch people try to interpret Obama statements from prior to today. They don’t seem to understand that the only statement which is valid is the one which Obama makes TODAY. All prior statements are no longer valid and should not be relied upon.

Obama will change, hedge, veer, switchback, flip flop or U-turn at any point that it helps him politically achieve his own goals (which appear to be primarily to maintain popularity not unlike the last Democrat president).

If any decision of his becomes unpopular, he will simply change it. If the people on one side of an issue cannot help him as much as the people on the other side, expect Obama to change sides. And when he leaves you behind he will simply say ‘That’s not the (insert name here) that I knew’.

Idiot. Missile defense is by now a fully mature technology, I don't think most people are really aware of how devastatingly effective it already is. Yet any technology can fail, so that there will never be a 100% surety that a missile would indeed be stopped; and scam artists like Obama will always use that slight possibility of failure as an excuse for obfuscation.

Barry, it is already proven to work.

We have had numerous examples of both the sea based and land based systems shooting down incoiming ballistic missiles that we have fired for testing.

This year, the new air born laser system will do the same.

But your own words convict you either in your abject ignorance (best case scenario) or duplicity.

BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA IN HIS OWN WORDS

Scroll down and watch the one..."Barack Hussein Obama's vision for the U.S. Military...in his own words"

Yep, but the kool-aid drinkers will believe anything the messiah says. And when the airborne laser proves it's value, he'll probably say that we will not militarize space, and because it is capable of shooting "upward" it is "thus, a space weapon".

HUSSEIN IS A VERY DANGEROUS PERSON.

“ringing Russia’s borders with such a system.”

The Polish location is a deterrence to Iran. Not building it is an invitation for Iran/Middle East radical nations to continue developing long range missiles.

Well....we disagree. The Iranians would have to kick out each and every inspector to even begin a bomb program. They haven’t. This is aimed at Russia. The neocons would like nothing better to begin a new cold war against Russia. They couldn’t live in a world without an “existential threat” and a constant war footing. They don’t (rightly) regard the third world Iranian basket case as anything more than a means to scare the sheeple. The system is in Poland for a logical reason. The Russians aren’t fools. They also know why it is there.
