When someone smashed a window at his pub, Peter Lucia-Hennis bravely rushed outside to confront the culprit. Faced with a drunken teenage lout, he confiscated the boy's bottle of vodka before giving him a piece of his mind.
Yet when police arrived, he was effectively punished by being told to shut his business down for the night to 'defuse the situation'.
Worse was to come when the 60-year-old was plunged into a five-month nightmare after the 17-year-old's mother showed police a photo of her son with two black eyes and claimed Mr Lucia-Hennis was responsible.
Officers arrested the grandfather-of-five and charged him with grievous bodily harm - which carries a maximum life sentence - forcing him to spend £5,000 on lawyers. Magistrates have now thrown out the case after his 'victim' failed to turn up for a trial and ordered taxpayers' money should be used to cover his legal costs. But the former firefighter says it is too late to save his faith in the legal system....
'They called me down to the police station for an interview and, as I walked in, I was told I was being arrested. ...
It was on the evening June 5 that a window was smashed at The Charlotte pub in Crayford, Kent, and Mr Lucia-Hennis called police.
He then managed to collar the boy responsible but decided to walk away when the teenager's friend started heading towards them.
He assumed police were dealing with the crime but was amazed when he was called in for questioning a month later....

The landlord should be given a medal and a chance to immigrate to the United States.
You have to have no self esteem or pride to let everyone know a 60 year old Grandpa beat up your 17 year old ass...
Clearly, that pub window of Mr. Lucia-Hennis provoked that yob...
Charlie: What are you writing?... What the **** is this? “Serious Injury List”? *Serious* injury list? Are you ****ing kidding me?
Raymond: Number eighteen in 1988, Charlie Babbitt squeezed and pulled and hurt my neck in 1988.
Charlie: Squeezed and pulled and hurt your neck in 1988?
- nothing - you already told him twice!
This story reads better as “... the 60-year-old was plunged into a five-month nightmare after the 17-year-old’s mother” appeared.
At a minimum, had this punk done this to me, he would bear the imprint of “Louisville Slugger” on his shattered kneecaps.
Things may not be any different here in just four years time. You cannot completely CONTROL the populce without first confusing them!
The UK is a sick, evil place when it comes to its “justice” system.
It must be awful to be confronted by a criminal in the UK. It's a lose-lose situation. What do I do? Give up my wallet quietly and get cleaned out or fight back and end up in jail myself.
Socialism has completely addled the brains of the Brits. Even personal safety and the prevention of crime must be entrusted to the state. Anyone attempting any individual acts of heroism is immediately squelched and punished.
No wonder Islam is flexing its muscles over there. Insanity like this invites some sort of chastisement.
Remember when Britain was great?
The ongoing absurdity of the UK criminal justice system (and, increasingly, the U.S. criminal justice system) reminds me of this great old Oingo Boingo tune:
Johnny was bad, even as a child everybody could tell
Everyone said if you don’t get straight
You’ll surely go to hell
But Johnny didn’t care
He was an outlaw by the time that he was
Ten years old
He didn’t wanna do what he was told
Just a prankster, juvenile gangster
His teachers didn’t understand
They kicked him out of school
At a tender early age
Just because he didn’t want to learn things
(Had other interests)
He liked to burn things!
The lady down the block
She had a radio that Johnny wanted oh so bad
So he took it the first chance he had
Then he shot her in the leg
And this is what she said
Only a lad
You really can’t blame him
Only a lad
Society made him
Only a lad
He’s our responsibility
Only a lad
He really couldn’t help it
Only a lad
He didn’t want to do it
Only a lad
He’s underprivileged and abused
Perhaps a little bit confused
His parents gave up they couldn’t influence his attitude
Nobody could help
The little man had no gratitude
And when he stole the car
Nobody dreamed that he would
Try to take it so far
He didn’t mean to hit the poor man
Who had to go and die
It made the judge cry
Only a lad
He really couldn’t help it
Only a lad
He didn’t want to do it
Only a lad
He’s underprivileged and abused
Perhaps a little bit confused
It’s not his fault that he can’t believe
It’s not his fault that he can’t behave
Society made him go astray
Perhaps if we’re nice he’ll go away
Perhaps he’ll go away
He’ll go away-ay...
(Repeat chorus)
Hey there Johnny you really don’t fool me
You get away with murder
And you think it’s funny
You don’t give a damn if we live or if we die
Hey there Johnny boy
I hope you fry!

Not all Brits. I'm an American but I've read some posts here at FR by Brits who are as angry with the socialist govt of Britain as we would be (are) under a socialist govt in America.
To me, these stories are a reminder of what could happen here when true conservatives become vastly outnumbered in the electorate (as in Britain).
It's frightening, but it also reignites my desire to fight.
Mommy continues to spoil the boy and does him serious long term harm. Next time her little angel gets caught drunk and stupid, she may well end up being asked to id his carcass.
My old man would have kicked my a$$ and made me work at that pub for a year doing the most foul jobs that old man could think of.
When the chrome on the bumpers were thick, the meatballs large, and air line travel was fun.
I hope everyone is paying very close attention - this is where we are headed as a nation
