How to Prevent a Digital 9/11
Pajamas Media ^ | December 19 | Charlie Martin

"It starts on a cold November night. You went to sleep, comfortably warm, after listening to the late news: a nor’easter coming through, the worst storm in several years. You go to bed, quietly excited at the thought of the fairly certain snow day — build a snowman with the kids, maybe work through the email that has piled up, and do a little online shopping; after all Christmas is coming.

That’s not the way it works out, though — about 3 a.m., you awaken, cold. The house is too cold. You get out of bed — the hardwood floor icy against your feet — and when you flip the hall light switch, nothing happens. Odd, the power is out. Automatically, you look out the window and realize the whole neighborhood is dark; in fact, there is no sky glow — usually, you can see the red shimmer of New York City on a cloudy night. It’s darker than you’ve ever seen it."

Sounds like a Tom Clancy novel, doesn’t it? It’s all too realistic, though

The TV show “Dark Angel” was ahead of its time by including in the storyline a terrorist detonated EMP bomb over the USA that killed off almost all electronics. Electrical systems are, indeed, our Achilles Heel.

>>but people FORGOT that the blowers run on ELECTRICITY...oops!<<

I’ve had a wood stove insert with circulation fans for years.

I have a DC/AC inverter that I attach to a 12v DC deep cycle marine battery. It will drive the fans for quite a number of hours. If the outage continues, I fire up the generator and power the fridge, lights, fans and recharge the 12v. During the recent ice storm, we were warm and toasty.

I took some pictures. It was unbelievable.

This is a really old scenario.

It was called “a fire sale” in the movie “Die Hard or Live Free”.

Decent movie though.

Though we walk through the shadow of death- have no fear!! Obama our messiah is my rod....or whatever. My point being, nobody cares about this except the few left in this country with brains that haven’t been dumbed down by the education systems and/or the msm.

No, I do not have an interest in the company and I do not own the product, but it seems interesting in light of your comments.

Time passes and the United States slowly begins to recover. The National Guard had to be called in to use their radios and vehicles to move food, but there were only a few thousand deaths all told.

Sorry, old paradigm. This crisis will be handled by the new Civilian National Security Force, tah dahhh!

the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to
have a Civilian National Security Force that's just as powerful,
just as strong, just as well-funded." - Barack Obama)

This is a great article by Brian T. Kennedy who is President of the Claremont Institute and sits on the board of the Working Group On Missile Defence.

It deals with the real threat of an EMP attack. PDF - it was the only full text reprint I could find.

You respond to Malsua with : “You were certainly more fortunate than many thousands of others...”

I'd say “Yes - and no.”

I'd say he was more “prepared” through self-reliance.

And many more had best wake up and do what they can to take care of themselves, both short term and long term. There's far too much ‘dependency” these days.

Take food, for example. If trucks don't roll, the super market shelves will be bare in 2 days. How long could you feed your family on what you have in the house? (without electricity)

Do you have any heat backup? Candles/lamps/lamp oil? Water? Land line phone?

I finally got back into the country 18 years ago. I decided I wanted my own water supply - a wood stove and a garden.

Malsua’s pics of last weeks ice storm are exactly what it looked like all my windows - and I was lucky with power out only a day.

Now we've got a N’or Easter zeroing in on us Sunday - along with a direct hit from a giant solar flare.

“got my wood box full, gonna fill the tub for “flush” water - hunker down and ride ‘er out.

Boy, there are a lot of stupid people in this country if they don't know what he means by that. Studying history of other countries that fell to communism, it is remarkable how quickly that happens. Many things are being put into motion right now, don't kid yourselves. Keep your ears to the ground.

but people FORGOT that the blowers run on ELECTRICITY...oops!

Great Majestic:

This (same model, but this one isn't ours; ours has some extras this one doesn't) is still in our ranch house kitchen, and works from late Fall to early Spring. I did the remodel around it. It has dual wood & coal grates, but with all the beetle-killed/dying trees for firewood on the property, there's no reason to buy coal. There is a regular modern stove on the facing wall.

No blowers; no augers; just plain old fashioned heat, with a big kettle simmering for humidification, so no electric humidifiers, either.

Stews, beans, soups, and other such long & slow simmering things are cooked on it, too, which saves propane & electricity.

In the utility room under the kitchen is the small airtight convection wood stove, which keeps the kitchen floor warm & comfortable.

$ miles off pavement, the last mile nad a half off the county maintained gravel, I want it to work every time.

The rest of the year, it serves as extra counter top & storage space. Mrs. ApplegateRanch loves it, too.

along with a direct hit from a giant solar flare.

No flare; just a solar wind stream. The person that post made his own title.

On Dec. 21st, another solar wind stream will arrive, only this time it will hit Earth directly. The stream is spewing from a coronal hole that straddles the sun's equator, which puts our planet squarely in the "cross hairs." The longest night of the year could be a green one; Arctic sky watchers should be alert for auroras.

scroll down below the picture of the aurora

These occur all the time, and are VERY different than a flare.

Thanks for the links to the pics!

Up here the trees are all ocered with hoar frost - look very pretty at sunup/sundown.

Most homes in the US are uninhabitable with no electric feed.
