Come Back to 1600, Johnny Dean, Johnny Dean
Special to FreeRepublic ^ | 18 December, 2008 | John Armor (Congressman Billybob)

I’m certain that all of you, being well-read folks, recognized the reference to the play that Robert Altman directed and then turned into a movie, “Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean.” That quirky play and movie involved a group of women reaching back to what their lives were like a generation before, when Jimmy Dean was alive and they created a fan club for him.

Today, we need a return to Johnny Dean, not Jimmy. Remember Johnny? He was in all the papers. He even wrote a new book a few years ago to make a few bucks and to remind the world that he wasn’t dead yet. Careerwise, he’s dead. But we’re talking biologically.

John Dean was Counsel to President Richard Nixon. He was asked to write a report on the Watergate situation. It was supposed to be a whitewash, concluding that the President had nothing to do with the break-in or the cover-up. Not much was said about the Dean Report. However, all Hell broke loose when John Dean grew a conscience, or just adjusted to the winning side politically. and told the Senate Watergate Committee that there was “a cancer on the Presidency.”

Are you starting to see where this is heading?

President-Elect Obama has ordered and gotten a report on the involvement of him and his office in the corruption scandal over Governor Blagojevich of Illinois seeking to sell the right to appoint the successor to Obama’s vacant Senate seat, The press has dutifully reported that the Obama report “finds no connection between Obama and Blagojevich.” P-E Obama has stated to the press, of late, that there were “no inappropriate contacts” between his office and the young but corrupt Illinois Governor who wears a dead badger on his head.

Did anyone else pick up on the word “inappropriate?” That is an admission that there were contacts. Until the nature of those contacts are known – who, when, what contents, basic stuff like that – neither we, nor the press will have any factual basis to decide whether the contacts were “inappropriate.”

When President Nixon announced that he had looked into the matter (Watergate) and there was nothing there, the press started digging like a kennel full of hungry terriers. But when P-E Obama announces that there is nothing there (Bleepgate) the press largely says, “Well, okay then, if you say so,”

Only some parts of the Chicago press are still digging. They are reporting as many as 21 contacts between Rahm Emanuel, soon to be the P-E’s chief fixer in the White House. It is nearly impossible for any two human beings to have 21 different contacts, regardless of who they are, and not accomplish or discuss something of importance.

Okay, who is going to be Counsel to President Obama? That would be, in this administration, the parallel to John Dean. Obama has announced that it will be an experienced criminal defense attorney. You don’t need to know his name, just his background. If there is anyone who thinks that a criminal defense attorney will grow a conscience, or change sides in the middle of a case, I have a bridge in New York to sell you, and I’ll throw in some free beachfront property in Arizona.

Plus, there is the little detail that John Dean spilled his guts before the Senate Watergate Committee, chaired by “Uncle Sam” Irwin from North Carolina, There ain’t gonna be any Congressional Committee to look into the Blagojevich-Obama matter, ‘cause neither Majority Leader Reid in the Senate, nor Speaker Pelosi in the House will permit it to happen.

So, the bottom line is that the full truth of the connections between the Governor and the P-E is not going to come out in any Congressional hearings. It is not going to come out of the White House itself. It is going to come out only if a member of the press does a really good job. And it probably won’t be anyone with a press badge from the NY Times, the Washington Post, or anyone associated with Gannett, since all of them have shown a tendency to accept the word of President Nixon (excuse me, President-Elect Obama) on such matters,

Some other reporter will have to fill the role. Maybe a veteran, ink-stained wretch from Chicago. Come back to 1600, Johnny Dean, Johnny Dean.

Yep, mainstream media goose-step their way with the democRAT party. Therefore, to criticize their golden boy, regardless of how corrupt he is, is to commit the cardinal sin.

One comment: John Dean never had a conscience. He was a backstabbing little weasel whoring after power from the get-go.

Enjoyed! Biggest difference between the two appears to be the mob connection in Chicago. Nixon didn’t have the “family” to deal with.
