Black leaders see Senate seat being hijacked

Bye bye, black Senate seat! The political blackbirds are singing a swan song for the hopes of keeping a U.S. Senate seat in African-American hands. The Rod Blagojevich implosion may have dealt that cause a fatal blow.

Last week's stunning pay-to-play charges led to calls around the nation for a special election to choose President-elect Barack Obama's successor.

That possibility has provoked outrage among black community leaders and politicians. Not so fast, they are saying.

Last month, the Concerned Clergy of Illinois demanded that the governor appoint a "qualified" African American "who can fill this vacancy and who has the capacity to be re-elected when [Obama's] term ends in 2010." The problem, as I wrote then, is that black leaders were at odds on who should get the nod.

"Provoked outrage"? OK fine. Then please tell us which seats should be designated as Caucasian, Asian, Hispanic, Etc. One good thing about Obama being elected is that racism is now irrelevant.

The lawyer for Junior when listing his qualifications listed
one as he’s entitled to the seat.

The blacks had their chance, but they were moved too slowly at raising the cash. Jesse Jr and his brother only did one fundraiser, with the Indian community.

Hmm. I didn’t know Senate seats were asigned according to race. Does that mean we need a Senate seat apportioned for every minority once they hit a certain critical mass?

So I suppose this WHOLE “Senate seat sale” scandal was REALLY nothing but a racist plot to keep a black man out of the Senate?

WOW! That “Blago” guy must be a Grand Kleagle in the KKK or something if he’s willing to take the kind of heat HE’S taking JUST to keep JJJr from becoming a U.S. Senator.

What a bunch of morons!

Entitlement mentality gets us mediocrity. We have an affirmative action/entitlement POTUS soon to be. The most inexperienced elected POTUS ever.

Question, would you want a firefighter who was trained to fight fires or one who do meets the social and ethnic requirements of the local bureaucracy?

For the most part, the vast majority of black politicians are democrats and the last time I looked, most of them are corrupt and/or have ruined the cities that they govern. If these black racists didn’t want to lose a senate seat to another race, they should have kept BaCrack from running for President.

It don't matter who is senator from Ill...he/she/it will most likely be a democrat, therefore, one of the dumbest amongst us.

HE/she/it will join the other intellectual giants of the senate, like kennedy and dodd and the former dumbest man in the senate, biden.

...we are so screwed....

That’s nothing. I see the Presidency being hijacked. And that is far scarier than a Senate seat, believe me!

This is where we are my friend. The Constitution and rule of law are history. We’re gonna see a lot of this kind of thing over the next 4-8 years. The big argument against opposing any black—elected, seeking election or otherwise, will be: “Can’t risk race riots and dividing the nation so we’ll just all roll over and take it in the shorts.”

Just as they have done in their families and communities Blacks are bringing chaos to our entire national life. Now that’s something to look forward to.

"Question, would you want a firefighter who was trained to fight fires or one who do meets the social and ethnic requirements of the local bureaucracy?"

That one's easy:
The black community in Denton, Texas - or at least the noisy members thereof - demanded a black firefighter, in spite of the fact he was manifestly the least-qualified candidate.

Wonder what they're going to say when one of THEIR houses is burning...

Meanwhile, the concerned clergy, a cadre of several dozen prominent black ministers, are "appalled" by the fallout of the sensational federal investigation. They see it as a thinly veiled attempt by white pols to hijack the seat . . .

If it weren't so incredibly damaging to the social fabric of the country, this would be amusing.
