Ann coulter was right: "Invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them all to Christianity." The only reasonable solution.

Either that or: expell all Moose-limbs from the West, wall them in and tell them to kill each other all they like. If they attack us, nuke 'em. It's relatively easy to drill for oil through glass.

More like Rahm Emanuel would be the one throwing the shoe at a reporter who dared to ask a serious question.

> A ceramic/plastic hand grenade could have been brought in as easily as shoes.

The Secret Service was certainly less-than-impressive on this occasion.

I’m glad they didn’t shoot this journalist, but they should at least have done a take-down, check him for weapons. He should never have been able to launch two shoes.

Did not see any poster of Che Guevara at all.

I saw the poster last night. I think it was on FNC. If they panned a little farther could have been an Obama 08 poster too.

“Gretchen on F&F was laughing it off, thinking it was no big deal.”

What’s even more outrageous is that Bush himself said essentially the same thing. A man tried to physically assault the POTUS (and damn near succeeded) and the President excuses it? WTF? It shows how far we have fallen when the President can be attacked without people being outraged. And WTF is wrong with the Secret Service? Have they been weakened by affirmative action or were they just caught playing with themselves? Those guys need to work on their reaction times.

I’m sorry that the Secret Service didn’t shoot him dead before he tossed the second shoe. He could have been throwing hand grenades. The video shows a man in the audience trying to stop him from tossing the second shoe. The secret service didn’t do it’s duty.

IMO the charges he ought to face should be no more than Assault and Reckless Endangerment. Give him a fine if he is a first-time offender and discharge without conviction.

There should be no charge for “insulting” — the West is trying to teach these people about Free Speech and political freedoms.

Throwing a shoe at a person is not an example of free speech - it is an example of attempted assault. Yes, there could have been something dangerous in the shoe. What if someone would throw something like that at the president here in the US? I guarantee it would not be treated as a free speech issue. It was pathetic that the guards let the second shoe be thrown - much less the first one.

It's not a free speech issue, and it's not a laughing matter. I'm at the point where I wouldn't mind if we left these stupid people alone & killing each other like they've done since the beginning of time.

Even so, had the shoe hit, it would have caused serious injury.

To a kitten maybe. Not a grown man.

> Teaching someone about free speech? Give me a break. He should have been shot by the secret service when he drew his had back to throw the first shoe, let alone the second.

Why? What for? How would you feel if an American protester got shot dead by the NZ SAS on American soil for insulting the visiting New Zealand Prime Minister? That would be outrageous!

He should have been tackled to the ground and searched.

> Felonious assault and ten years minimum hard time would be appropriate.

For what??? Where’s the felony??? I didn’t see a Felony, but I did see an Assault. Ten years?? That would be way, way over the top. He’d get let out on appeal any you know it.

> If you were stupid enough to try that stupid stunt in the U.S., that would be the minimum penalty.

Certainly not.

> Free speech is fine, but speech has consequences, and so does battery.

The shoes did not hit the President, so there was no Battery. Only Assault.

> And screw the “Arab Street” that would applaud this act,

They would surely have rioted had he been shot. Then we’re back to square one in Iraq, with a whole bunch of people we are supposed to have liberated angry with us.

> the whole bunch of you aren’t worthy to lick used condoms.

When you say “you”, who do you mean?

I threw a magazine at my husband once - he got a long bloody paper cut all the way down his nose. Still has the scar. Who would think a magazine could hurt a person? It all depends on where it hits. Nothing should be thrown at the president - nothing at all.

A hard shoe in the face could have easily broken a nose or knocked out a tooth, c'mon, be serious.

The guy and his family ought to count themselves lucky that he isn’t leaking precious bodily fluids from numerous lead injection sites. The Secret Service personnel on that detail will be chasing counterfeiters in Boise soon...

I wonder what the previous leader of Iraq would have done with someone who threw a shoe at one of his guests? OK, I don't really wonder since I know he would have disappeared forever.

He should have been dispersed with two taps to the brain stem... but then I do not meet the criteria to be PC on today's kinder and gentler PC version of FR.

"And if he threw a shoe at Saddam"

He'd now be getting a foot massage from the first of his 17 virgins, who bears a striking resemblence to that of Yassir Arafat.
