Short of having gone full Ninja hero and catching the shoes in mid-air, it's hard to see how Pres. Bush could have been any cooler in his handling of the Hush Puppy Hurler. I have to figure the president's feeling pretty good about things this morning. But that didn't stop ABC and NBC from declaring the incident "embarrassing" for President Bush.
For good measure, on Today, Doris Kearns Goodwin discounted Bush's blithe reaction, saying he wouldn't have been that cool a couple years ago, strangely intepreting his nonchalance as evidence of how anxious he is to leave office. And not to leave CBS out of the mix, on the Early Show Richard Roth described the president as being "nonplussed" in reaction to the incident, when he was in fact just the opposite.

ABC, NBC declare shoe incident “embarrassing” for Pres. Bush ping to Today show list.
Can we now start throwing shoes at the Drive-Bys?
President Bush showed himself to be an outstanding gentleman when this happened. He is the kind of leader a free country needs, and we will miss him when he goes back to Texas.
Great example of why I don’t watch NBC, MSNBC, ABC, or CBS.
Nor CNN.
Personally, I found it interesting Bush kinda grinned, ducked the throws easily.
Very smooth when you think about it.
The ‘issue’ for me isn’t the thrown shoe, nor Bush’s reaction.
Where was the Secret Service after THE FIRST SHOE?
GMA and ABC are embarassing to journalism.
Yes, many on the left think it’s a bad thing that radical muslims that seek the destruction of the West hate the President of the United States.
They needn’t worry, they’ll have an advocate in that office soon enough.
I wonder how many shoes were thrown at a Saddam Hussein press conference by “journalists” before Iraq was liberated by the US. Ironically, this incident shows how far Iraq has come.
How did the Secret Service allow the guy time to get a 2nd shoe thrown? He should have been dead by the time the first shoe reached the podium.
What is surprising is that the TV station is demanding the guy be released on account of his right to protest. If he wants to get up and run his mouth, fine. But throwing objects at the president is an assault.
What’s not surprising is that his “co workers” knew that he had planned to do this if and when he got a chance to cover Bush in person. Arab media is one and the same as american media. Next they’re going to try and shock us with stories of American and Arab media journalists engaged in beastiality and incest.

This is the only time the corrupt old media offers any coverage to a man that makes mistakes as a man, but is still a good man. Pres Bush continues to be honest and decent although his change in a number of policy areas has been quite disturbing. ON the other side, we now have the HO, a product of chicago gangsters and the muslim world—wait till the new media gradually exposes the depth of his depravity, stupidity, and incompetence. Thank you affirmative action.
If the shoe were on the other foot - yes, groan all you like - and it were Buraq that got the shoe thrown at him, we'd all be saying how the guy was a plant.
“My question is this:
How did the Secret Service allow the guy time to get a 2nd shoe thrown?
He should have been dead by the time the first shoe reached the podium. “
Can you imagine what would happen if someone threw a shoe at 0?
How naive these people are... ANY American official would have got that treatment.
Doris Kearnes Goodwin’s ghostwriter is a little slow on the draw today.
The MSM has been throwing everything, including the kitchen sink, at Pres. Bush for 8 years, so what’s the big deal about a couple of shoes.
Does this incident show more about Pres. Bush or about the press?
Over at DU they had an orgasm thread over this.
Our liberal establishment did not and does not think the Iraqi people are worth American blood, and continues to belittle George Bush's motives a shaving been oil, revenge and/or stupidity
They just don't get it
However, the all-volunteer troops over in Iraq- many of their 3/4th tours do duty - as volunteers- they do “get it”
The Govt of Iraq owes them and us an apology for this insulting act against our President. But will it happen? (crickets)
Perhaps this will inspire some folks from DU to get out of their parents basements, get away for the video games, and go throw their sandals at the White House- they only have a few more weeks
