Gov. Paterson didn't see the humor in a "Saturday Night Live" bit that mocked his blindness.

During the "Weekend Update" segment of NBC's irreverent comedy show, actor Fred Armisen played Paterson, imitating his wandering eye, gravelly voice and blunt, self-effacing demeanor.

But Paterson and advocates for the visually impaired didn't appreciate stock blind jokes that had Armisen pretending to be disoriented and wandering aimlessly.

"I can take a joke," Paterson told reporters.

But he called the SNL spoof a "third-grade depiction of people and the way they look" that could lead others to believe that "disability goes hand-in-hand with an inability to run a government or business."

If he could actually "take a joke", he'd go on Saturday night like Palin did...and diffuse the whole thing.

They have pretty much left Palin alone since she was on the show and played along with the "joke"...but then, liberals are all so thin-skinned, it's no wonder patterson got his back up over it.

I was slightly interested in this past week’s episode as Hugh Laurie (Dr House) was the guest host and DVR-ed it (don’t normally record SNL).

Well, I watched it for about 20 minutes, scanning thru the skits, and I never laughed once.

He’s got a small point though.

The problem is Paterson is a moron in of itself. And you have to make fun of it. But he’s got a disability that is an identifying feature. So if you mock him, you end up mocking the disability too.

Politicians should be mocked. I thought the skit was a riot. But people are idiots and you can implant the idea that a small disability is a disqualifier.

Actually it’s one of the funnier spoofs I’ve seen o that show in a loooong time. If it were that funny all the time , more people would probably watch.
That said, The NY gov. needs to lighten up a little.
