McCain unsure if he'd support Palin for president Posted: 01:59 PM ET
Sen. John McCain says he may not necessary support Gov. Sarah Palin if she she runs in 2012
CNN) Sen. John McCain said Sunday he would not necessarily support his former running mate if she chose to run for president.
Speaking to ABC's "This Week," McCain was asked whether Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin could count on his support. "I can't say something like that. We've got some great other young governors. I think you're going to see the governors assume a greater leadership role in our Republican Party," he said, citing Governors Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and Jon Huntsman of Utah.
McCain said he has "the greatest appreciation for Governor Palin and her family, and it was a great joy to know them. She invigorated our campaign" against Barack Obama for the presidency.
Pressed on why he can't promise support for the woman who, just months ago, he named as the second best person to lead the nation, McCain responded that "now we're in a whole election cycle. Have no doubt of my admiration and respect for her and my view of her viability, but at this stage, again
my corpse is still warm, you know?"

That ended the day he won elected office.
Hell, McCain unsure if he'd support McCain for president, from what I've observed this fall.
Maybe that’s it- McCain didn’t ever act like he really wanted to win. And Sarah wasn’t well known before she was tapped for the VP spot. If she was picked to be window dressing, imagine how surprised the McCain camp was when they found out what they had. :)
He thinks at the age of 76 he has a shot of running for President against a 48 year old, LOL. People accused him now of being “out of touch” and “Too senile to be President’ What are people gonna think in 4 years, that he took a pill that made him young again. What a putz this guy is, my corpse is still warm. Thanks for telling me that Johnny, and don’t worry, hopefully in 2010 he will be kicked out of the Senate so we will never have to see his traitor face again
McCain was just on Letterman the other night, effusing over what a marvelous sec-of-state Hillary would make, what a great pal Ted Kennedy is, and what a huge danger ‘global warning’ presents. Today, he’s making the rounds, chiding the GOP for daring to criticize the Blago/Chicago corruption, and now even goes so far to toss overboard Gov. Palin, who had worked her heart out for him and tirelessly defended him, even after the election!
Obviously he’s trying to get back in the good graces of his lefty elitist media pals. McCain is reverting back to form, and with a vengeance. And once again proving what a loathsome, dishonorable backstabber he is. A truly repellent toad of a man.
McCain is dead to me...again.
That was the most frequently heard comment at our local Republican HQ. I always volunteer during presidential elections, we supply the area with yard signs, bumper stickers, buttons, etc. Most of the people, men women young old white minority all Republicans who came in wanted a PALIN sign. I would say McCain Palin? They would say I WANT A PALIN SIGN. Some were people who had always voted Democrat before, but they just thought Obama was TOO liberal. Everyone LOVED Palin. She talks like Reagan.
McCain needs to be voted out - completely. Do the right thing, Arizona.
Excellent analysis, SB.
Let’s make sure McCain gets booted in his next senate election.
There was another thread a few days ago that quoted Joe the Plumber saying that when he briefly joined him on the campaign trail, he took the opportunity to ask McCrazy about his support of the bail out bill. Joe stated that he was "appalled" by McCrazy's answers.
I believe McCrazy is the (R) version of 91-year-old Robert Byrd, who has now held his Senate seat for 50 years, in that they both intend to die on the floor of the United States Senate. I make a pledge here and now that if a conservative candidate challenges McCain's senatorial seat in 2010, that I, a non-resident of Arizona, will send campaign donations to the challenger on a regular basis.
I’m so ashamed that I voted for that turncoat. As far as I’m concerned he’s squandered all the goodwill that his years in the Hanoi Hilton earned him. I hope the voters in Arizona dump him in his next primary.
Who needs a losers support?
Go suck up to Obama some more, McPain. You’ve done your damage.
I often felt he was in the tank for Obama during the campaign and the more he speaks, the more I am convinced of it.
It seems to me these days McCain qualifies as an “also ran” i.e. loser. Who cares about his opinion?
That's not what your staffers told the press. And did you chastise your staff or go to Palin's defense? Nope.
McLame is a big puzzy.
He just have left “the right stuff” in Hanoi, because he sure doesn’t have it now.
They should've done that in 04.
Good news. An endorsement by that RINO POS would only do harm.
