Are you sure that isn’t 2962.4664879356568364611260053618?

It is a longwall mining system though the media report wasn’t particularly detailed (when are they ever?). The picture shows the shear in the foreground and I think the thing in the background is the armored face conveyor.

Based on the relative size of the man in the picture, it’s a fairly massive longwall so 8 million tons is certainly possible though it will depend on maintenance downtime.

Uh, never mind - I see your ping now, thanks TM.

We manufacture 6000kVA and 21600V Power Distribution Centers all day long that run much larger Joy and DBT shearers and conveyors for longwalls in North America. The Chinese mining equipment industry is still in its infancy. 2210kW is no great shakes, imho.
Note: 3 phase kVA= kV*amps*1.73
3 phase kW= kV*amps*power factor*1.73

US Sales of coal to China were heavy this year as the Chinese switched many/most of their oil fueled power plants to coal. It was cheaper (btu wise) for them to import coal than it was oil. Sales have suddenly fallen off due to 1) Large surpluses of coal in China 2)cheaper oil and 3) they’ve ramped up their own mining industry yielding greater domestic production.

Our company (note the: “exported from the U.S. and Germany” statement) has a Representative Office in Beijing and two plants in China now (Tianjin & Changzhi) building only switchgears, transformers and comm equipment. So far, there is no profit motive in building Power Distribution equipment in China. Plants in Germany, US, France, Australia and Russia dominate that market. The Chinese are not interested in quality or safety - only price point and efficiency, therefore anything manufactured there wouldn’t pass muster on the world market. A Chinese longwall wouldn’t get MSHA approval or any other authority internationationally with the possible exceptions of Mexico and South America. This is just a pretty picture of a nice paint job from the communist propaganda bureau. (iow, move along, nothing to see here). my 2¢

Thankya for your dos centavos.

Life as a Chinese coal miner - as a Chinese anything, actually - would be short, dark & brutal. No comparison at all, from the top down, to 1st world standards.
