My hunch would be that, knowing of the arrest of Blago, meetings with his staff or lawyer took precedent over the security briefings.

I'm with you on that...he knew what was coming down. Question is, when did he know it? The Hill Blog reports he canceled that morning, so did he only find out the timing of the bust just as the rest of us did?

Zer0 has reportedly been getting his national security briefings at the FBI office in the Chicago federal building, but I vaguely recall an article from last month explaining that the actual briefings were from the normal national security briefers and not from the FBI. Which all seems eminently plausible.
