“Mr. Ryan, a Republican, is serving a 6-year prison sentence”
Funny the only time a political party was mentioned, I wonder why?
Yeah, I noticed that too. Only Republicans are mentioned by party affiliation whenever an arrest is made.
Democrats who are arrested are intentionally and ambiguously referred to as "politicians."
It's bullsh!t.
Throwing a harsh spotlight on a city that has been celebrating the election of Barack Obama to the White House, federal agents on Tuesday arrested Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich and a senior aide on broad corruption charges, including allegations they tried to sell Mr. Obama's Senate seat.
Mr. Blagojevich, a 51-year-old Democrat, and chief of staff John Harris, 46, are each charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and solicitation of bribery.
Unveiling the federal indictment at a press conference, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said, "This is a sad day for Illinois government. Mr. Blagojevich has taken us to a new low."
Mr. Blagojevich, elected in 2002 as a reformer in the wake of the scandal-plagued administration of George Ryan, has been the subject of a years-long federal probe and has become among the least popular governors in the nation after a series of policy missteps and allegations of pay-to-play politics. Talk of impeaching the governor has circulated in Springfield.
They mentioned Ryan in the fourth paragraph, but identified him as a republican in the fifteenth paragraph of a seventeen paragraph story. This is a cheap trick used by left wing writers who want to distance themselves when one of thier own gets caught. If you check the Incomplete List of Democrat Criminals on my profile, I assure you that I had to read pages of news articles about each person to determine if he was a democrat. I often had to track through articles about the original campaigns or civic awards to prove party affiliation because the articles never mentioned that the indicted / convicted criminal was a democrat.
It would be nice if the Journal hadn't done this, but then again, the dems have it coming. At least somebody is using some basic propaganda techniques for our side.
Incidentally, if U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald thinks Blagojevich is a new low, someone needs to teach him about Ted Kennedy.
