The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) on Wednesday called on American Muslims to thank the Fox television network and the creator of "The Simpsons" for a recent episode that used comedy to challenge Islamophobia.
The episode, which aired Sunday evening and is titled "Mypods and Boomsticks," highlights anti-Muslim sentiment by featuring a young Muslim character named Bashir and his family who face prejudice after moving to Springfield. In the program, Homer Simpson wrongly suspects that Bashir's family is involved in a terrorist plot. Bart Simpson befriends Bashir and defends him from bullies.
CAIR's Greater Los Angeles Area office (CAIR-LA) sent a letter to the show's creator Matt Groening thanking him for challenging anti-Muslim prejudice.

a “phobia” by definition is an IRRATIONAL fear of something.
There’s nothing irrational about being suspect of Muslims, since their whole culture is based on the assimilation and elimination of all other cultures.
They have childrens' shows for that.

no, kids aren't the only ones that watch cartoons. the Simpson's up until 9/11 or so was one of the best satires on TV. then it took a sharp left turn.

Gosh, are they still making new Simpsons episodes? It’s been so long since I’ve diegned to watch one - or seen a commercial for an upcoming episode - I just assumed they were only in syndication.
The Simpsons have been listing heavily to the left for a while now.
With Fox it’s more like a lurch.
