"Who will want to save them?" i.e. "Who wants to capture any alive?"
Mumbai: Doctors Shocked At Hostages Torture reports that the Islamic supremacist perpetrators of the Mumbai massacre tortured many of their hostages before murdering them. The article also says, however, that the Indians may have used what Kumbaya-singing Westerners might call "excessive violence" on the terrorists. The Islamic supremacists' faces were "beyond recognition" and "One of the terrorists was shot through either eye."
In other words, the terrorists got exactly what they deserved, and what the United States and Israel ought to give the perpetrators of 9/11 and Ma'alot respectively on a routine basis. The French use the term "pour encourager les autres"--literally "to encourage the others," but more generally "as an example to others." We stated more than 25 years ago that first aid for wounded terrorists should be limited to the cost of a single pistol cartridge.
...Punishment (or retaliation) that does not serve at least one of the following three functions is useless sadism: (1) correction of the perpetrator's behavior, (2) prevention of future crimes by the perpetrator, and (3) deterrence of like-minded individuals. The actions of the Indian commandos fulfilled objectives (2) and (3) perfectly. The dead terrorists will never harm another innocent person, and other prospective terrorists will be deterred.
Meanwhile, India has given us a real-world alternative to the line, "What Would Jack Bauer Do?": Unko bachana kaun chahega?

We should always make sure that our finest professional soldiers are very emotional, undisciplined, and out of control, it works well for third world militaries and their elite Special Forces.
I disagree, save for water boarding. Then publicly get rid of them.
That'll work.
Sounds as of the commandos were really good shooters and tried to avoid hitting possible flak vests.
Very good shooting boys...
“A senior National Security Guard officer, who had earlier explained the operation in detail to rediff.com, said the commandos went all out after they ascertained that there were no more hostages left. When asked if the commandos attempted to capture them alive at that stage, he replied: “Unko bachana kaun chahega (Who will want to save them)?”

I like your tagline.
Uh, they made a decision based on logic. Why the hell would you unleash anything OTHER than hell once you’ve figured that there are no hostages to rescue or preserve?
Oh, perhaps intelligence—yeah, take another bunch of casualties with a bunch of methed up terrorists with grenades.
I guess they got the “two to the chest and one to the head sorta backwards”
But in the end the terrs are still DRT (dead right there)
And a second round to the head. You know, a kind of booster shot.
Amen to that. They certainly did squash a horrific situation.
After that, we can unemotionally, professionally, and in a highly disciplined manner find their families and do the same.
After that, their pets, livestock, and the rathole villages they came from.
All done quite professionally, dispassionately, unemotionally of course.
