Shariah, or Islamic law, may be spreading around the world, but it isn't going to be established in the United States without opposition, vow members of the United American Committee.
Officials with the non-profit have erected a 48-foot-long billboard just outside of Detroit, home to one of the largest groups of Muslims in the U.S.
"SHARIA LAW THREATENS AMERICA," warns the sign.
The UAC says it's "dedicated to awakening the nation to the threats of radical Islam" and works to "educate Americans on the nature of Islamic extremism."
The group's mission is to battle against "the ideological aspects of the war on terror to counter elements of radical Islam in America."
"Shariah law is a legal system recognized in many Islamic countries such as the former Taliban regime of Afghanistan, and currently Saudi Arabia, and is a legal system which dictates beheadings, stonings, and other punishments for what are listed as crimes under Shariah such as homosexuality and adultery, and according to critics views women as inferior granting them little rights," the organization stated.
Tom Trento, a spokesman, said, "Muslims are the biggest victims of Shariah law in the world. We hope this message inspires the Muslims of America who came to this country to escape Shariah to stand up against it."

There is no way sharia law can be allowed in the United States. It is contradictory to the US constitution. Recognizing sharia law would be the same as congress violating the first amendment. I’m sure we’d hear all kinds of freaking out if we instituted canon law for the catholics. Then we’d also have to allow polygomy for other religions. Where would it stop?
The ONLY law we will keep is the current law of the land, the United States Constitution!
“Shariah law”
Is not going to happen in the U.S. except in parts of mooselimb filled Michigan.
I believe the mooselimbs are going to make another large attack on the U.S., larger than 9-11.
At that time Americans of all classes will rise up and smite the damned mooselimbs rather harshly across this fine country.
And I’ll be right there doing a bit of smiting.
But remember, Liberals are all for “separation of church and state” but when it comes to Shariah, they think its “tolerant” and “multicultural” to impose THAT religion.
gosh, do you really think this band of morally corrupt reprobates in Washington really give a crap about the constitution?
No, I don't think they do.
But we, the people do, and it's up to us to make sure we keep our nation free. It might even take people out of their comfort zones to do it, but freedom isn't free and we must not get complacent.
I'm for separation of church and state.
On the one hand, I do not want religious authorities overriding the government. On the other hand, I do not want the government dictating religion.
Does that make me a liberal?
Whatever it makes me, Islam is totally opposed to that.
From what I’ve read, that church in Lansing that was vandalized by a bunch of “pink” people (no arrests were made!) was because the people of that church said out loud that they pray for homosexuals to change and they loved the sinner and not the sin. The sin being homosexuality of course.
So, the religion that calls for BEHEADING homosexuals is going to be allowed to use their own rules to govern communities in our country, but our own Christian churches undergo government sanctioned vandalism.
Sometimes I think the first requirement to get special protections from American liberals is that one wear a funny hat.
No, a liberal is one who is opposed to Christianity in the public square, but could care less about Islam in the public square.
The 1st amendment wasn’t created to protect state from church, but church from state.
Sadly, I believe that all congress gives a crap about is reelection. Nothing more.
If pro is the opposite of con, does that mean the opposite of progress is congress?
Thank you!
May I respectfully as what the “Thank you” is for?
that's what I get for being fat-fingered, and stupid
did I also mention.... old
“Islam is not a religion. It is a violent political ideology of which religion is one component and is used to impose Sharia law on all societies”
Indeed. Bears repeating, so I did.
I’ll go further and state that - as your assertion is true - Islamics and their “religion” should be denied the protection of the First Amendment. I mean that, with no apologies to anyone reading this.
And I’ll go even further in stating that I believe the First Amendment should be rewritten to specifically exclude the “followers of Muhammed” from it’s scope of protections.

Absolutely. After 9/11, we should’ve banned islam. It’s a complete sham.
Not in the United States constitution nor found in natural law, from which the Magna Carta and the U. S. Constitution derives. The only Constitutional restriction regarding religion, is a restriction on government: "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." 1st Amendment, U.S. Constitution. The only restriction here is that government is not allowed to ESTABLISH A STATE RELIGION, nor is it allowed to restrict the free exercise of religion. According to the Constitution, as well a natural law, Men are free to exercise their religion anywhere they want, whether its inside or outside government settings. Secular humanist liberals have usurped the Constitution using the phony "separation of church and state" as a cloak for their treason.
Our miraculous country began with Christian and Biblical values infused in the daily lives and acts in both government and society in general. "Separation of church and state" is derived from a metaphor Thomas Jefferson once uttered, that godless liberals have used to usurp the Constitution in favor of their own secular humanist religion which runs counter to American values and laws including the U. S. Constitution.
A careful reading of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and other documents of our forefathers reveal that Man is free because God made him that way. And free Man confers whatever rights he will upon the government. It is government rights that are revocable, not Man's inalienable rights, among them Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
