Enough Already, Mr. Maverick
American Spectator ^ | November 26, 2008 | Quin Hillyer

So John McCain again says he intends to run for re-election in two years. Is there anybody else out there who wishes he would just go away?

He ran a campaign that was both utterly inept and in many ways dishonorable, and he's been in Congress since 1982, and he'll be 74 years old in 2010, and he holds bizarre grudges and is temperamentally difficult, to say the least.

I know he was a Navy guy, not a soldier, but methinks he should take McArthur's advice for old soldiers and just.....fade....awa......

PLEASE!

“Is there anybody else out there who wishes he would just go away?”

Yes. Go away, already. You can no longer do good.

But you never hear these self-absorbed liberal morons make statements like this about Sen. Byrd or Sen. Kennedy, or any of the other misogynistic liberals in government.

If the people of Arizona would stop electing him...if they reelect him 2010 they need to be punished.

Every single friend or relative I have in Arizona wanted McCain to win...just so they could be rid of him and get a decent senator.

As a conservative in AZ I will need to think long and hard before I vote for McCain. The problem is that I don’t think anyone will oppose him in the primary.

McCain is a large problem with why we lost. He does need to go away!

Life goes on and we need to correct past mistakes
and make a change away from McCain politics.

If McCain is the GOP future, people might as well vote Obama.

Run a true conservative against him.

Beat him in the primary.

Problem solved.

P.S.
McCain ran a pretty good campaign against Obama.

Having worked in Republican politics in CA I find it annoying that the conventional wisdom is to not run against the incumbent in the primary. Somehow it is “just not done”, no matter how bad or incompetent the incumbent is. And yet the party will demand loyalty in the general.

Well, I for one am very tired of McCain reaching across the isle to his “friends” in the democrat party. Yeah, he should go away, but then so should most of the rest of them too.

Term limits, anyone?

Retire and enjoy real life. Not the phony, make believe and worthless life that many of those in politics live every day.

Balderdash. He utterly failed to expose his opponent for who he is. He was the ONLY one who could have done that and he passed. Turns out his Veep has a bigger set than he does.

Yes. Go away, John. Just go.

McCain is an idiot, and a traitorous bastard, and his "Giuliani Gambit" of a campaign was a predictable and epic failure.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Old soldiers never die they just fade away ....

Douglas MacArthur in his speech to Congress (way back when) ..

McCain did his duty - “Please sir, just relax on your ranch and just fade away .....”
