I had the privilege several years ago of an escorted tour of a large, important multi-sided building near a river. The visible security that I passed through (several layers) resembled Officer Friendly.
I asked my guide how close to the building a company-sized force staging from the river could get, and if such a force could get inside.
"That's classified", he said.
The only good thing about this story is that they apparantly had to stage from Pakistan - IOW, they haven't demonstrated power projection, yet.
There are so many soft targets in the US that are accessible from the water.
Including short range nuclear detonations lobbed from a rusty old tanker into our major cities. The crews would be paid not to expect to return home.
