Washington, DC -- A top Catholic leader says it is possible that Catholic members of Congress who vote for the Freedom of Choice Act could face excommunication. The legislation would make unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy the law of the land and overturn hundreds of pro-life laws nationwide that reduce abortions.

Sadly 50+% of Catholics voted for O and the Catholic Church gave and may still give money to ACORN and other lefty groups. There are many good people, priests and bishops but sadly the few bad ones do the devil’s work with ACORN.

35 YEARS of ... blah blah blah ... Should have made an example and excommunicated TEDDY KENNEDY... but NO.. The CHURCH gave him an ANNULMENT after how many years and how many children.

When I see that, then I may come back to MASS ..

Anything is “possible”, doesn’t mean it will happen.

From past history, I doubt if any Catholic congress people will be intimidated by this into doing the right thing.

If the Catholic Magesterium wants to catch their attention and actually make them believe their threat, a few preemptive excommunications of high profile anti-life politicians might do it.

The day the Catholic Church excommunicates a$$holes like Father Pfleger and every other so-called 'priest' that preaches Marxism in the form of 'liberation theology' will be the day we know they're serious.

Until then, the 50% of Catholics that voted for the first Marxist POTUS are indicative of how far the church has fallen, IMHO.

“Possible”?
“Could”?

Geeze! How typical of these weak Catholic leaders!

True reform in the Catholic Church will come from the many faithful God-fearing Catholics who practice **ALL** of their religion. These are the people who will drag their weak bishops, priests, and Catholic educators to the altar of true repentance and demand that they do their jobs. I wish we had a nation full to the brim with these good Catholics.

Yes, I remember this discussion shortly after Roe V Wade.
That was 1972. If anything, it is much less likely now.
I believe that Knights of Columbus has taken some actions against pro-choice Catholics but that has been about it.

Possibly, but substance might be behind the statement. If the statement is true, excommunication is aimed at one man: Edward Kennedy. He has been a leader in the pro-abortion movement, but remains within the Catholic Church. He is old and sick; death will come within a couple of years at most. I believe the Pope wants to demonstrate that no one or no family - however prominent, powerful. or wealthy - can flout the doctrines of the Catholic Church without facing the consequences.

Can’t have anyone going against Satan’s rules.

The Dims will have to replace that guy.

Just do it. Excommunicate them. God had already done so long ago, and He is the One who counts. He knows the black hearts of these abortion lovers.

Hell will freeze over first, I'm afraid, before anyone is excommunicated on this issue.

“is possible”, “could face”. Yep, you’re probably right. Too bad. People need some wake-up calls.

You are right! They're already gone and so is the "Leader" who condones it.

I see nothing in this specific story that implies the Pope is behind the statements of the Cardinal.

Pipe dream, won’t happen. I’d love to see it, but not all bishops will do it. Lots of liberal pussies in leader spots that have a soft spot for abortion and politicians who love abortion.
