Paralympian leaves rare legacy

Marin Morrison did not come close to winning a medal or setting a record at the recent Beijing Paralympics.

Swimming in three events with her body partially paralyzed from treatment for incurable brain cancer, the one-time Olympic aspirant barely completed three events powered by one arm and leg, far behind her competitors.

Years ago, my daughter and her swim team were asked by their coach to stay after practice and view a video about an extraordinary swimmer, Marin Morrison. We've been following her story ever since. (Have a tissue ready, especially if you watch the video.) My prayers go up for her and her family and for all those battling cancer and other sufferings as well.
