We had a guy like the Mitbots in our office ~ we got rumors of an impending RIF. He got the idea that if he could bait others into really nasty arguments, and then run to the boss with a complaint about them, he would enhance his standing and get an extra 15 points.
About half of us were veterans so he didn't have a chance.
