We all knew the pick would pay big drama dividends, we just didn’t know it would start paying before she’s even been formally named. Christmas does indeed come early this year.
Doesn’t sound like the sources here are part of The One’s inner circle, but let’s not spoil the unwrapping of our first present with details.

Every dark cloud indeed has a silver lining.
I look at it this way- such a ruthless negotiator might be a good choice for America in the SoS role.
It would certainly be a change.
“Give up the nukes or we launch at 3am. You’re not going to make me look bad.”
What in the world to the Clintons have on this guy? Something too terrible to use to knock him out in the primary, but enough to control him from this point on?
It’s just hard to find an explanation for all of this.

He’s keeping his enemies closest. Not a bad strategy given that he’s attempting to herd cats.
This will also turn out well from the perspective that all failures of diplomacy will rest on Hillary given her high stature and his teflon skin.
I guess the possibility that an administration official might do something for their country is too much to hope for.

This was surely all settled months ago. Hillary must not have wanted to rot on the sidelines as VP, so she agreed to campaign for O in exchange for State.
This has been discussed at length on FR and with the following conclusion: what, short of the Vice Presidency, can Bambi offer her that will be sufficient to what she feels is her due? The answer is: nothing. Certainly not State, although it's the biggest prize still available. We've already had two female Secretaries of State and although this may satisfy some of Hillary's lust for power it will not satisfy that all-important demand, her vanity.
The question is what Bambi and his boys will put up with. We have already seen a Secretary of State with interests divergent from the President in Colin Powell, who was very properly sent packing for his trouble. Can She Who Must Not Be Named be sent packing in a similar manner? My guess is no. And that will make the next four years very interesting indeed.
They have got something on him. But if it was the birth certificate showing him not to be eligible I think they would have played it .
I bet she has a text message from him that was a 3 AM booty call.
Correction, he is the first half black president. He is mulatto.
Yeah....I’m pretty tired of hearing he’s our “first black President” NO....he’s our first white/arab/african President.
My husband thinks that she will take SoS because she knows something about his birth cert, and figures he’s ineligible. Biden will be President, and she’ll slide into the VP slot.
I disagree with one point of your otherwise excellent post. Hillary can be sent packing or resign voluntarily over a major dispute with Obama.
If it happens within a year, then Hillary does not have a senate seat or a cabinet position as a platform to run for president.
It’s not what they had on him, it’s what they threatened to put on him that worked.
Remember Bill’s little speech about the candidate that you only agreed with on 50% of his platform and could produce on his promises verses the one who promised you 100% of your platform (Change) and couldn’t produce at all?
I still believe that Hillary hi-jacked the Sec of State job with Bill’s extortion of his threat to endorse McCain if he didn’t give her the position......
