Up to 3 inches of snow in Phila. region

By Brittany Talarico

Inquirer Staff Writer Light snow will continue to fall this morning in the Philadelphia area but the weekend will be cold and clear. However, the chilly temperatures are here to stay.

In Chester County there were reports of up to three inches of snow.

Highs today are expected to only reach the upper 30s, according to Bob Wanton, a meteorolgist for the National Weather Service.

"It looks like we are going to stay in a relatively cold pattern for at least the next two weeks," Wanton said. "That doesn't mean it's going to be frigid, but below normal. What you are seeing this morning is probably going to be the worst you are going to see for the next few days."

Glazed roads this morning made for treacherous driving.

Well............

Remember a few years ago, we had an unusually warm January in the east, and the global warming crowd told us that a warm winter was a sign of global warming. So then, does a cold early start of winter weather mean that global warming isn’t happening??? Which is it, Al Gore?

Is Gore coming to the Triangle region of NC? Maybe he’s coming to visit and discuss world events with his friend John Edwards. It was snowing like a b*tch out there this morning.

I also live in NC. They are calling for record low of 18 degrees in Charlotte tonight. My son is going skiing in Blowing Rock tomorrow, they are opening a week earlier than expected because of snow and cold weather (able to get a headstart on making snow this year).

Colder winters prove global warming is occurring because the colder winters are the result of the global warming factor on the earth's warming effect and the cold that is being displaced by the warmth has to be dispelled before the warmth can take effect and cause death and destruction.
This is crystal clear to me, why can't people grasp it?

Remember, now it's not just global warming, but any global climate change that is bad. The enviro-nuts just turn around and claim we've ruined the environment and now it's getting colder as a result. It was never about the truth, because if it were, they'd have been forced to conceded that the data they based their conclusions on was incorrect. Instead we get “just because the proof is fake, doesn't mean it really didn't happen.” There is no logic in their argument.

I’ve had ice on the lake here in Michigan for 3 days now. It’s nearly a month early, give or take a week or so.

Pretty convincing :0)

I'm going to go with "Global Warming causes really cold weather because man's impact on the climate is even worse than we ever feared!!!"

We've got a balmy 18 in Iowa. Some flurries the past few days, but nothing has stuck...yet.

While I can agree with some of your statement, you've neglected the abuse on our planet by womankind as well as animalkind.
I think we need a tax on all feminine and animal products in order to stave off the catastrophic effects their presence on this planet has caused.
As such (and to wit) I am proposing a 100% tax on lipstick, Barry Manilow CD's, Milk bones, kitty litter and anything Oprah. Absent that we have failed to "nip it in the bud"

In north Mecklenburg County here. Early this AM we had flurries-enough to get the street wet. Been here 23 years + and have never seen snow/freezing junk this early.

Right now I wish I had just a little bit of the miserable heat of July.

We got close to an inch in Asheville. Very early for that much.

I thought warming could precede a rapid onset of a cooling period. Am I wrong?

When global warming meetings in DC were cancelled due to snowstorms last winter, they just changed the packaging to “climate change.”

LOL! Yeah, right.

I hate to break the news to you, but "Climate Change" is the general term, and "Global Warming" is specific. Both have been used for decades (though Climate Change came first).
