It looks like John McCain has won Missouri — the last state not marked in either red or blue on the electoral map. The Missouri secretary of state’s office said Tuesday night the Arizona Republican led President-elect Barack Obama by 4,355 votes out of 2,923,496 cast. Assuming the state certifies the count, it will place the overall electoral vote at 365 for Obama and 173 for McCain. The office said 3,159 provisional ballots remained to be added to those totals, but even if Obama won them all, McCain had a big enough margin to win the state’s 11 electoral votes. All of the state’s voting jurisdictions were required to certify their votes by Tuesday, but four of them — St. Louis County, St. Louis, and Jackson and Montgomery counties — had not provided totals by the close of business, the office said. State law allows counties to mail in their results, and the secretary of state expects the remaining totals sometime today. A spokesman said there is still a chance the four jurisdictions have uncounted ballots other than the provisionals, so the office did not declare a winner Tuesday. Obama can ask for a re-count, because the margin is less than 1 percentage point, but he appears unlikely to do so. The state must certify the results by early December, before the electors cast their votes for president.

You can bet that if this were turned around for BO to get the 11 votes there would be recounts in EVERY state he lost. And they’d count until they won.
And Obama still lost the state.
I was holding out hope that Obama’s 0.6% margin of victory would tilt on final counting, and that Indiana would return to a RED state.

I wasn't suggesting that at all. I was implying that Obama won via ACORN, hence Missouri didn't pick the winner because Missouri didn't factor in ACORN.

No, Missouri got it right. All the blue states got it wrong.
Six counties in Southwest Missouri went McCain by an average of 65.45 percent. We proudly denied Hussein 11 electoral votes.
We’ll win both of those states back next time. Obama ran in a perfect storm cycle.

Every time I hear McCain’s name it’s like the knife being twisted. I despise this man.
I would argue that this will be almost unrepeatable for the Democrats in 2012 and definitely unrepeatable in 2016.
You can only vote for the first time for the first black president once.
Overall turnout in 2008 was only 3.5% higher than in 2004 - but 12% higher for Democrats.
Here's the amazing numbers:
(1) African-Americans make up about 11.5% of the population.
(2) Due to high participation, they average 16-18% of the total electorate.
(3) Preliminary results indicate that they were 22% of the electorate in 2008 - probably an 80% turnout of eligible African-American voters.
(4) Assuming that over 90% of these African-American voters voted for the President-elect, that amounts to approximately 26 million votes.
(5) The President-elect received 67 million votes. That means that 40% of his votes came from African-Americans.
I just checked, and Vigo County, IN voted for Obama, meaning that it has voted for the winning presidential candidate the past 14 elections and in 24 of the past 25 elections (the only time it didn’t since it voted for Bryan in 1908 was when it gave Adlai Stevenson a 35-vote margin in 1952).
Missouri (to its credit) did not vote for Obama, so it has “only” voted for the winner in 25 of the past 27 presidential elections.
I’ll have to punt on that question. Our Pachyderm club is getting a post-election analysis from our county clerk and that’s a good question to ask.
Catholics carried MO for McCain, which didn’t happen across the nation. I credit Bishops Finn and Hermann for their strong stance against the baby killing Obama.
Interesting figures. It’s sad not more of the black voters took a stand against Obama for his terrible abortion record. Even many of the so-called pastors supported him.
There were a few brave ones who refused to support him. At least some kept their principles.
Right, Terre Haute wasn’t “off” but Missouri was.

The numbers also indicate that about 75-80% of white male voters voted for McCain.
However, only about 40-45% of eligible white male voters voted, while something like 58% of all eligible voters voted.
If 58% of white male voters bothered to vote, this election would have turned out very differently.
So what did we find out about white male voters?
(1) Very, very few of them were taken in by Obama's sales pitch.
(2) Not enough of them realized how dangerous Obama was (you can blame the MSM for suppressing the truth or the GOP for taking the so-called "high road" or both) to the extent of going out solely to cast a vote against him.
(3) Sarah Palin was able to get about 93% of 2004's Bush voters to the 2008 polls for McCain - but McCain was ultimately not able to get the base out.
(4) Pretty close to 100% of white male voters in AL voted McCain.
Obama won via S.T.U.P.I.D.V.O.T.E.R.S.
Missou is now more conservative and Republican than the nation at large. Still surprises me Stevenson won it.
I predicted this could happen while listening to moron Bill O’Reilly insist whoever won Missouri would win the election.
Ohio and Florida look to be your Bellwheter states now.
Nevada and New Mexico also former bellwheters went too heavily for Obama.
McCain gave up very early on New Mexico and did not make much effort here at all. I figured he chose to spend his time and money where there were more electoral votes in play- but for whatever reason he did not seriously try to get this state. NM is a Dem state by voter registration, but the people are fairly conservative and can be swayed to vote R. Many conservatives I know did not feel McCain was a conservative and did not vote at all.
I don’t believe this state is lost to the Rs from here on, if they are conservative and/or make a real effort to win this state.
Lots of voter fraud in Florida. I knew of two people, blacks of course, who went to Florida to vote...no telling how many others did the same thing. This election was won mostly by voter fraud.
Do you know the accurate percentages of female voters? I’m sure the liberal girls went for O, while the rest of the women went for Sarah. But was just wondering about statistics.
No, but the white numbers, male and female, for AL were 89%.
My assumption is that the 11% of white folks in AL who voted for Obama were for the most part single white women living in the Birmingham area or the college belt.
That would fit the national trend the closest.
