The State of the Black World Conference will bring a who's who of African-American scholars, orators, church leaders and organizers to New Orleans for the five-day event at the Astor Crowne Plaza and the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

The conference -- featuring notables including Urban League president and former New Orleans mayor Marc Morial, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and actor Danny Glover -- is generally limited to paid registrants.

Imagine if caucasions held such a conference, or straight people for that matter. And, in a places like L.A., we are actually the oppressed minority groups!

It’s amazing, how these relics of segregation cling to existence. You’d think there was money involved, or something.

The meetings are designed to decide how they can keep their own people down and totally rely on them for their information about life. Oh......and how to continue to raise money for themselves.

What's funny is that the paper put this article below the fold of the second section of the paper. The article continues on the third page and Wright isn't even mentioned until almost the end of the article.

Before anyone asks why I subscribe to the paper, I had cancelled a long time ago, but my wife said that she wants it so she buys it now and I try to talk her out of it. Around and around.

Is it true that the President-Elect can only attend half of the conference?

These meetings are about how to keep racism alive so we can keep ourselves relevant and lining our pockets.

I don't know why media isn't jumping all over this now that the last bastion of racism has been conquered, or so they have been bleating ever since Obama frauded his way into the highest office.

There should be no "state of the black world" anything in this country, rather it should be "state of the nation in the world" and chaired by the people elected to represent the nations people.

This line up of racists is why racism will always exist in this country- they are obsessed with the color of their skin. That's the first thing they see in the morning, the very first thought in their minds when they wake up, and the first thing they look at when they see another person on the street, tv, hear a voice on the radio.

Bingo. The mantra coming out of this conference will be, "Yeah, whites helped us elect Obama, but we're still oppressed, there's still racism, and we have to hold Obama's feet to the fire lest he kowtow to our white oppressors."

Over the years, minority groups that have had a history of being marginalized experience some decades of “bundlging up together” for commomn causes.

It happened with the Irish, the Jewish, the Polish, The Italians, the Hungarians, the Indians, etc.

Its all logical and a normal process.

As long as their objective is self empowerment and self-advancement, that is ok.

thats the difference between such well-meaning groups and the extremists.

Thanks for your input, n00b.

Btw, don't you have a round-trip ticket to buy for Chocolate City?
