Don’t Consign GOP to Land of Cotton
Pajamas Media ^ | November 16, 2008 | Timoth Furnish

Win or lose, some liberal pundits seem constitutionally incapable of civility toward conservatives. Four years ago, the people and states that reelected George W. Bush were branded en masse as “dumb” and as ignorant denizens of “Jesusland” — the kind of stereotyping supposedly only Republicans engage in. Bush won 31 states in that election, encompassing most of the interior of the continental U.S., over intense — some might say deranged — liberal opposition, and so perhaps their being sore losers was somewhat understandable. But even in victory liberal commentators can’t seem to show any class; now the slander of the mean-spirited left is that the GOP has been relegated to the party of the Confederacy.

Deride “Jesusland” and “the old Confederacy” at your peril, liberals, for soon you’ll be disabused of your childish dreams that the rest of the world is going to beat its IEDs into plowshares and love us with Bush gone,...

Self-inflicted wounds. Wish them out to the cornfield, Anthony.

“Comrades and friends, these splendid statues of marble and granite and bronze shall finally crumble to dust, and in the ages to come, will perhaps be forgotten, but the spirit that has called this great assembly of our people together, on this field, shall live for ever.” -Dr. Nathaniel D. Cox, July 2, 1913

A singular highlight of the reunion was the meeting of Pickett’s Division Association and the Philadelphia Brigade Association near the High Water Mark on July 3, 1913. Despite the torrid heat, the veterans made speeches, traded ceremonial flags and shook hands over the stonewall that outlines the Angle where fifty years before, the two groups had met in mortal combat.

50,000 men died there and they respected each other so much that the men openly wept and hugged each other at the Pickett reunion. But, then, they were REAL men...Democrats today are beneath contempt.

Journalists must be scouring the liberal blogs for ideas for articles these days. Is there one original idea on the left? Other than rabid hate, that is?

This "consigning" of the conservative movement to the "south" is just another liberal, dumbass attempt to brand all conservatives as "racists".

Look for legisltation from a congress near you to cut all southern states' electors to one each...that will guarantee liberal/black leadership right up until America folds and hands the flag over to Achmadenijad (sp?).

Will all of us old people be taken out to a ditch and shot, like in Red Dawn? Will we even sign the Star Spangled Banner like they did?

America is only dying becase Americans have become cowards and are allowing it to die.

The Alamo is pretty much down to WASPs and Wall Streeters since Reagan Democrats were abandoned and the abortion outreached to Catholics crashed on economic reefs. It is what it is and nothing will change. GOP future hope is Obama crashes and burns.

It has always been said that the south would rise again. It may be that time.

The time for civility and concilatory gestures to those who undermine the country is over and their opinions should be no more valued than the enemy.

I certainly don't want Obama's agenda to succeed and we should give them the EXACT same respect they gave Bush....

I will show the DUmocrats only the courtesy they have earned and deserve...NONE!

If the GOP had any strategic sense, they’d be setting up a HUGE ground game in California.

There are multiple ways the GOP can win the presidency without California. There is NO way the Democrats can win without it. One look at the county-by-county vote in CA tells me that it’s winnable with a lot of work.... work that has to begin now, not 6 months before the next election.

Good idea, and somthing tells me, after the Prop 8 vote, that California isn’t really as liberal as folks think it is..

I believe with a Conservative, and hard work, CA could be won (just like RR did)!

Here's the 2004 breakdown by county:

Still believe California is irretrievably blue?
