Fort to close gate due to event Sunday

FORT HUACHUCA — The Main Gate will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday to all traffic including foot traffic, due to a planned demonstration.

The event is part of the Southwest Weekend of Witness, which is sponsored by Southwest Witness, Tucson SOA Watch and Torture on Trial. The events will have a “No to Torture” rally at Veterans’ Memorial Park, followed by a procession and presence at the Main Gate. These events occur between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Ft Huachuca is home to the Military Intelligence School and one of the courses taught is the Military Interrogator Course. Last year 3 of the FREAK-A-ZOID Leaders were give a detailed briefing on what was taught by the post. They came out afterward and said they were lied to and that they knew torture was taught but the post just wouldn't admit to it.
