The battle for control of the State Senate continues.
Senator Carl Kruger, one of the three dissident Democrats who have refused to go along with the rest of their partys pick for Senate leader, said in an interview Tuesday evening that the group wont make a decision until the new Legislature is seated in January.
Mr. Kruger, a Brooklyn lawmaker, said he and his two fellow dissidents Senator Ruben Diaz Sr. and Senator Pedro Espada Jr. of the Bronx would prefer that a Latino Democrat lead the chamber.
Thats not necessarily whos on the right or left, its who best can do the job, Mr. Kruger said in a telephone interview after the trio dined together in the Bronx.

Mr. Kruger and Mr. Diaz said on Tuesday that the trio woulld also seek a statewide referendum on the issue of same-sex marriage, as a way of forgoing a vote on the issue. The issue has been a sticking point for Mr. Diaz, a Pentacostal minister who has vowed not to support any leadership candidate who brings a same-sex marriage bill to the floor of the Senate for a vote.
We have agreed that gay marriage should be a referendum, Mr. Diaz said. Let the people decide.

This is rich. The “gang of three” Dems are wandering off of the liberal reservation and not worshiping at the altar of gays. Popcorn please.
There aren’t enough hours in the day for the Dems to pander to every single minority group.
Senator Rev. Ruben Diaz and N.Y. Hispanic Clergy Organization to Join 40 Days for Life at Dr Emilys Abortion Clinic
On Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 9:30 AM 11:00 AM, New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) and the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization will participate with Expectant Mother Care at a 40 Days for Life event outside of Dr Emilys abortion clinic located at 560 Southern Boulevard at 149th Street in The Bronx.
Senator Reverend Diaz stated: Black and Hispanic communities should no longer be plagued with abortion clinics like Dr. Emilys. The lives of Bronx children are just as valuable as other childrens lives and they deserve the right to life. We continue to work and pray for an end to the deliberate killing of Bronx children at Dr. Emilys. Expectant women from the South Bronx should not be preyed upon to sacrifice their childrens lives so that the multi-million abortion industry can continue to grow.
Forty Days for Life is a peaceful effort uniting pro-life Americans for 40 days of prayer, fasting and public outreach to end abortion. Forty Days for Life takes place this year from September 24 November 2.

Diaz is pro-life ? Well, go with him. Better than one of the moonbats.
Gotta be a latino? Why, are they now the majority in NY?
“Mr. Diaz, a Pentacostal minister who has vowed not to support any leadership candidate who brings a same-sex marriage bill to the floor of the Senate for a vote.”
WOW A DEMOCRAT WITH PRINCIPLES: I applaud him for standing for the truth of the Gospel over policial expediency: Please someone send him a free chicken dinner! (Or at least some campaign cash when his term comes up..I am serious).
Well, after decades of corrupt Italians and Jews running the New York State Senate and Assembly, why not let some corrupt Latinos run things for a change. ;-)
With a black Obama and Governor they feel left out of the halls of power.
