I didn't find out my main professor in graduate school was a Republican until I saw him at a 2004 pre-election Hannity/Boortz/Cunningham road show.
A few years back, I went to a graduation of one of my colleagues’ kids since I was in the area.
The graduation speaker was a Marxist, Marian Edelman-Brock I think, inventor of “it's for the children”. The valedictorian speech was about the need to free the working class from the yoke of the huge industries and corporations who get huge tax breaks, and community service was a path to that end. Lots of applause and the college president was glowing, That's the sort of student we should be PROUD to have graduate!
The dean of faculty spoke and he went on about Che Guevara. I wrote his name down- Bob Ross, one of the founders of SDS and involved with Weather Underground.
The kid who graduated was considerably left of her dad, and he said she'd been drifting more and more into fantasy politics each year of school.
I think that being immersed totally into a Marxist environment, where you are rewarded for Marxist thought, will influence anyone to some degree.
