America Held Hostage- the Obama Files...

With a hattip to Rush ( His idea during the Clinton plague upon America ) I am starting a file on “The One,” mostly starting from the election date.

Older stuff- links, quotes, quips, and sometimes pointed graphics can be found by scrolling back from these two posts:

-Hillary Clinton- archives, comments, and opposition research--

-Sarah Palin- links, from the beginning--

There is some good material in those posts that raises a lot of uncomfortable questions that everyone ought to be asking, and probably will once the “new” wears off, and we are stuck with four ( more likely eight, since 95% of the news & entertainment media are in his pocket ) years of a typical corrupt Chicago Political Machine Politician trying to jerk the whole country in one direction and then the next.

You've all heard the saying,

”People get the kind of government they want...
...and deserve?”

Well, America, you are about to “get it, good & hard...”

Don't say you weren't warned- we tried to tell you...

We did everything we could, and our state went for the Old Guy & the Naughty Librarian, but too many other voters were made stupid by the TV and public schools for it to matter.

We're in a Hell of a mess, and the worst thing is, "we"- the collective we, not you & I-- got us here.

Is Obama really the Abyss...

staring back at us?

I like to make points with humorous graphics- this one sums it up as well as any:

Then, in a nutshell, "everything I see going bad with all this hopi- changi- stuff The One is peddling-- forced labor, censorship, spin, and pure mean-spirited rudness:

Email of the day

Atlas readers rock! I am blown away by the overwhelming response to this post  (and this one) to get involved to take back our country from the Soros, socialists, and the self proclaimed messiah - oy. More than one email brought a tear to my eye but I wanted to share this one with you.

If this best represents who we are, what we want and where we are going, there is no way we can lose. Greatness is in the house. I am proud to count you as my friends. Prouder still to stand with you and fight this great fight.

I want to lead a county.

I was born in Cuba, and know the language of Communism, Obama speaks it well.  My grandfather's family had to flee Lebanon because of the Muslims to Cuba. We fled Cuba because of Castro.

This is the best country in the whole wide world.  I was a child when I left Cuba with the clothe on my back, we left my parent's sister and I, left behind everything.

America is Worth fighting for and Freedom is worth defending.  I do not want my children to grow up in oppression, nor do I wish exile upon them.

Please allow me to help, again, Id like to lead a county.

My name is Ingrid and Im in Miami, in Miami Dade County

May the Light always shine upon America,

Ingrid

UPDATE: In case there was any doubt as to what the victorious zombies have in mind. Check out this comment (left in the comment section) . Can you say rude awakening?

You people are pathetic!

Your racist fear mongering will not go unchallenged!  Soon we will shut down your hate spewing web sites.  We will confiscate your firearms.  In prison, you will get an education on the error of your ways.  We will take your children and raise them as our own and instill in them the values of social justice.  We will have a new American Republic of justice and order for all!

You time is almost up!  Prepare for the dung heap of history!

It sounds insane (which it is) but I believe the writer is quite serious.

"We will confiscate your firearms. In prison, you will get an education on the error of your ways. We will take your children and raise them as our own and instill in them the values of social justice".....

Heh heh heh....I am sure you are serious, but that is funny!

Values of social justice....like Mao? Stalin? Lenin? Ho-chi Min? Pol Pot? Which of these butchers of social justice did you have in mind?"

170,000,000
That's the number of civilians that have been murdered by their own governments in the 20th century alone.

Innocents Betrayed is a must see video produced by Jews for the Preservation of Firearms (scroll down to see links to view the Introduction to Innocents Betrayed)

Now consider Obama's 'civilian defense force' which he intends to fund and equip as well as our standing military coupled with his promise to revisit the second amendment (repeal concealed carry privilege) and then compound this injury with Ayers' inspired youth corps.

CHANGE.GOV OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT ELECT (hat tip rut)

Obamessiah has a new site up as President-elect soliciting ideas form the proletariat.
Let's hope it doesn't become the hub for the hate whitey and Jew boy Obamavomit that his last site was.

Surf the site. Take note. Keep your eye on the The Obama National Service Plan- the page is empty (how apropos) but that piques my interest.

President Obama To Bring Back Slavery

Just in case anyone think Mr. Obama is not serious about this, bear in mind that his new Chief of Staff wrote a book demanding this very thing:

Amazon.com: The Plan: Big Ideas for America: Rahm Emanuel, Bruce Reed: Books
http://www.amazon.com/Plan-Big.....038;sr=1-1

Don’t forget they want a Gestapo/KKK civilian force the size of the pentagon to keep everybody inline and things running smoothly.

“Suddenly, all mention of “required” has been disappeared. ”

SOME THOUGHTS ON OBAMA'S mandatory volunteerism plan. Plus, reader Nancy Anne Potts writes:

Looks like the change.gov site is true to it's title - it changes!

During the time when I was looking at the blog you linked to concerned mandatory community service the change.gov page saying "require community service" changed to goal for community service. The new wording is:

"..... Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free."

I found the the cached page on Google it has the original "required" wording.

Looks like they caught their "mistake". Now will the real plan please step forward -- goal or required. (Although the way government sets goals, they often wind up looking like requirements so maybe the two aren't all that different.)

Ugh! I see card check made the economy page too. He may be the president elect but I don't have to like his plans!

Not until the second term. Then that will be made mandatory, too . . . .

Meanwhile, Robert Bidinotto comments: "Anyone recall what the Soviets used to do to history books?" The Obama folks have a history of airbrushing.

IF YOU VOTED FOR MCCAIN, you're a racist. Just in case nobody had bothered to tell you.

President-elect Barack Obama's First Press Conference - Complete Video 11/7/08

Obama Mocks Nancy Reagan in 1st Press Conference

It's  classless to mock a frail, elderly woman. (Note he was not kind in his revelation about his own "typical white person" grandmother, either.)

It's even worse to mock the widow of a great former president. Whatever you think of her, she deserves respect.

Especially classless was mocking Nancy Reagan on stage, before hundreds of reporters and television cameras, knowing the "joke" would be heard by millions. This wasn't some private remark that got picked up by a live mike.

On Concerns Over Gun Control, Gun Sales Are Up

From "Change.gov", the official transition website. Agenda tab and then select "urban policy" and go down to "Crime Control".

Address Gun Violence in Cities:
As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

There will be no one left to protect you
Barack Obama wants to institute a Civilian National Security Force, a vast militia not unlike Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, a personal army. He knows he would need such a force to protect him and to enforce his will on Americans. Americans will have not seen such arbitrary power used against them since the days of the Civil War when Lincoln put the Constitution in the bottom drawer of his desk and set about arresting anyone who opposed his policies...

Hmmmm... this one is very difficult. I was in the military, and we were taught we salute the uniform, not the man. So I respect the office, not the man. However, I am adopting a wait and see. If Obama governs as if he cares about America, even if we disagree, I can accept that. If Obama governs as I expect, like a Manchurian candidate who is bent on America’s deconstruction, that is when he will disqualify himself as being my president.

An array of other advocacy groups are stepping forward with their priorities for the new Congress.

Barack Obama: The Kingfish Reborn

Do Unto Obama As Liberals Did Unto Bush

Coal stocks plummet. Average 15%, many over 30% since Tuesday Gee, wonder why?

Kate, this is important and you should listen to it. It's about Obama's cult of personality and it is short.

From the blogs- and, always, read the Anchoress:

Bush, Obama, & Ghosts of Hate - UPDATED

“The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.” Lincoln’s Second Annual Message to Congress, December 1, 1862.

I would love nothing better than to be able to stop writing about “left” and “right.” I wish we had a better vocabulary to describe our distinctions, because these words are limiting and off-putting. I am determined, with the merciful conclusion of this abusively long election season, to work diligently at spending less time entertaining these distinctions. But for today, I think it is only fair to note a very important and glaring difference between “left and right” - and in so doing - consider how we may, finally, stop needing to indulge in what is tedious.

Victor Davis Hanson
says Let’s not imitate the left in our opposition. I agree.

It has been wonderful - really beyond wonderful - to consider how differently most of the right has reacted to their defeat than the left did in 2000 and 2004. In the two previous elections, the left responded by calling the other half of the country “stupid,” “morons,” and “Nazis” - Jane Smiley called them “unteachably ignorant” - they indulged in high drama, sniffling “apologies” to the globe, and denunciations of their fellow countrymen as “lying between repugnant and reptile in the dictionary.”

And oh, yeah (eyeroll) George W. Bush was not “their” president.

While you’ll see a few disgruntled extremists on the right say foolish, even ignorant things - and many throwing daggers at the sickening double-standards of the press - they’re not indulging in that sort of dehumanizing (and very adolescent) hate of their fellow countrymen or the president-elect. The reports they’re filing read very differently than those following the Bush wins. They read as grown-up, tolerant, open-minded discourses, not tantrums. There is a willingness to be hopeful, even in defeat.

And there is a determined respectfulness being offered to the winners - people who could not manage maturity and respectfulness in their defeat and who, sadly, are not always managing it in their victory, either.

I’m hopeful that the left - if it takes the time to actually condescend to notice how well it is being treated by the vanquished - might consider that self-indulgent defamation is the lesser way; that such a consideration may inspire introspection, and perhaps the smallest bit of regret for some of their appalling excesses toward the right and toward the American President who did not return hate in-kind.

I’m hopeful. I’m an optimist. I KNOW that the folks on the right - for all of their faults, and both sides certainly have faults - want America to be successful and strong and exceptional and free. I’m hopeful that hugely empowered left will discover that - beyond the feel-goodism of “free social programs” which are never free -they actually, really do want all of those things, too. That they’ll look back on the last 8 years and realize, finally, that their enemy was never George W. Bush. Bush, the guy who never dehumanized them, was only trying serve those corny ideals.

And then, miraculously, we may actually have unity.

Some similar thinking from my girl crush, Donna Brazile:

“The one mistake that we continue to make is that we label people. We say you’re conservatives, liberal, progressive, right wing, left wing. I think people just want to spend one day being Americans. They want to come together around a common purpose, common values.”

I wondered the other day if the catharsis of this election might open up “a vein of generosity” (or at least decency) from the left as concerns President Bush. I have not seen it yet, but I’m going to be optimistic and keep looking.

But maybe it’s enough just to see a little appreciation from the right, to start. Like this, for instance:

I link, therefore, I Err has a little mini-round-up of appreciation for George W. Bush. You’ll want to read it all.

From Alppuccino at Protein Wisdom:

At 10:40, President Bush will keep his streak alive by telling everyone how much he loves America. Just as he always has. And he’ll show everyone how much he loves America by preparing Obama as best he can for the next 4 years.

Read it all; it’s doubtful that Obama’s team will come into the White House finding O’s missing from their keyboards, any rude messages greeting them. And that is how it should be in America, a respectful transition.

Michael Gerson:

Many liberals refuse to concede Bush’s humanity, much less his achievements.

But that humanity is precisely what I will remember. I have seen President Bush show more loyalty than he has been given, more generosity than he has received. I have seen his buoyancy under the weight of malice and his forgiveness of faithless friends. Again and again, I have seen the natural tug of his pride swiftly overcome by a deeper decency — a decency that is privately engaging and publicly consequential.

[In 2005]…the White House senior staff overwhelmingly opposed a new initiative to fight malaria in Africa for reasons of cost and ideology…In the crucial policy meeting, one person supported it: the president of the United States, shutting off debate with a moral certitude that others have criticized. I saw how this moral framework led him to an immediate identification with the dying African child, the Chinese dissident, the Sudanese former slave, the Burmese women’s advocate. It is one reason I will never be cynical about government — or about President Bush.

Jeffery Scott Shapiro:

[The treatment of President Bush] from this country is nothing less than a disgrace. The attacks launched against him have been cruel and slanderous, proving to the world what little character and resolve we have…Our failure to stand by the one person who continued to stand by us has not gone unnoticed by our enemies. It has shown to the world how disloyal we can be when our president needed loyalty — a shameful display of arrogance and weakness that will haunt this nation long after Mr. Bush has left the White House.

Until we fix, within ourselves, our enthrallment with hate for others, simply because they hold differing views, we’ll never pull it together. In 2006 we watched a right-wing blogger be called less than human by a left-wing reader. We’ve seen President Bush being referred to as “the chimp” and “the monkey” by the wits who insisted that ideology trumped having a decent respect for another’s humanity. I wrote about that a little here:

Thus, George W. Bush is “Chimpy McHitler.” Hillary Clinton is “a pig in a pantsuit.” Barack Obama is “O-Bambi.” Cindy McCain, who has exhibited some courage and laudable compassion in her life, is reduced to a “pill-popping beer-frau,” and so forth. From there it is smooth sailing down an ever-descending river of hatred, until we are incapable of seeing anything good in the “other,” both because we have willfully hardened our hearts, and because our hate — especially when it is supported by a group of like minds — feels safe and inviolable.

With that in mind, you’ll want to read this excellent piece over at Conversion Diary, wherein Jenifer ponders pictures from a Nazi-era photo album and wonders, how such common-variety people managed to support and enable such profound evil.

One thing that stands out in all these examples is that the victims of the widespread evil were categorized as something less than human…not only that innocent people were killed or enslaved, but that their humanity was taken away by the societies around them…So here is the advice I would offer to my children, and to my children’s children:

Every decade or so, take a look around the society in which you live, and ask yourself if there is any group of human beings who are seen as something less than human. A big tipoff is if dehumanizing words — terms other than “man,” “woman,” “child,” “baby,” or “person” — are used to describe any category of people.

And if you ever see that going on, you might be in the midst of something gravely evil.

Dehumanizing people begins with baby-steps like name-calling, or the sort of intellectual dishonesty that delights in deliberately twisting the meaning of others in negative and misrepresentative ways. Those are the little gateways to the great evils that come once you’ve managed to thoroughly de-humanize others.

We’ve had 8 years - I’d say 12, really - of people demonizing and dehumanizing others, from both sides, and it is not getting us anyplace good. I believe that the response of most of the right to Obama’s victory is a step toward changing that. But the left has to do their part, too.

Pope Benedict XVI said, “those who hope live differently.” The election of Barack Obama was borne on this word, “Hope.”

If the people who voted for “hope” were sincere, then let them begin, today, to embrace it - and to live differently - without the kneejerk move to hate “the other side.” The right, responding levelly to their defeat, has offered the opening. Will the left take it?

UPDATE: Seems some will. Here is mostly accurate, and apprecited praise from a surprising quarter:

Would America have elected Barack Obama if white Americans had not gotten accustomed to seeing (in succession) two African-American Secretaries of State? I don’t think so. Before Bush, African-Americans were appointed to some good posts but not to our #1 foreign policy job. Two African Americans (one with a pretty odd first name) served as America’s face to the world. That eased Obama’s way. It is not Tiger Woods in whose footsteps Obama is walking — it’s Rice and Powell….Fact is, “W” never gave any evidence of holding racist attitudes…even just the slur the occasionally slips out of the mouth of even our most liberal leaders.

Same with Arabs and Muslims…Bush, after 9/11, never resorted to anti-Arab or Muslim stereotypes. He drew distinctions between terrorists and Arabs…Had he not done these things, Arabs and Muslims might have experienced not just hate crimes but pogroms.

Meanwhile, from Grand Rants:

Here is a man who is regularly compared to Hitler in casual conversation in Leftist circles high and low. His honor has been regularly impugned, his intelligence (or, as the press loves to put it, his “intellectual curiousity”) constantly demeaned, his verbal stumblings consistently mocked, and his accomplishments in office discounted or ignored. He is a man who kept his head down and did his job, despite the slings and arrows hurled at him by fortune made all the more outrageous by nearly the entire Democratic party.

I for one, would like to say thank you to Pres. Bush. For keeping us safe. For watching out for us. For persevering in spite of all the spite. I believe history will ultimately judge you as one of America’s best presidents, and I believe you deserve that judgement.

H/T to Opinionated Catholic, who writes:

The throwing under the bus of the President by even his friends and indeed the base has been shocking to me. Many groups will find out soon enough how they took Bush’s support and advocacy for them for granted, Catholics, especially.

Meanwhile, Jules Crittenden is beginning to enjoy Omerica, Quin Hillyer is saying America is over, kaput, finished, Evan Thomas suddenly finds Obama “slightly creepy” and when you refuse to release medical records, and the press doesn’t care…conjecture begins about your mental health.

Forty-Fourth President, Twelfth Imam

by Baron Bodissey

O-Man’s Fibonacci spiral haloThe election results were long expected, but now that the day has arrived it’s quite a letdown, anyway. Reading about the joy expressed by Hamas and Syria and Italy and Indonesia… contemplating Obama’s Secretary of State, or (God help us) Defense… Thinking about the USA becoming just like Sweden, only with a real army, and aircraft carriers, and nukes… First Lady Michelle…

It’s all too depressing.

So, as is my habit in such circumstances, instead of writing a post this evening or doing something else useful, I created yet another iconic image of The One. After looking around at some of his existing halos, I decided to make one myself. A man can’t have too many halos, right?

And then I pondered the phenomenon of halos appearing behind the heads of great national leaders, men who are born into modest Muslim circumstances, but in time become presidents of large countries that have nuclear weapons. It made me think of…
- - - - - - - - -
Mad Jad’s HaloMahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Ol’ Mad Jad got his halo when he went to visit the UN a couple of years ago. It appeared behind his head while he was speaking. Not only that, his audience was held in such rapt attention by his words that they were unable to blink for thirty minutes. We know all this is true because he told us so.

I wonder how many other resemblances there are between him and Barack Hussein Obama.

Ahmadinejad sees himself as preparing the way for the Twelfth Imam, as a sort of satanic John the Baptist for the man who is prophesied to return and usher in the apocalypse preceding the establishment of the permanent reign of Islam over the entire world.

And Obama’s got a bigger halo.

Does that mean…? Nah — it couldn’t be… But still… It makes me wonder…

What if the One were also the Twelfth?

Note to the literal-minded: this post is for fun, not to be taken seriously. Given the circumstances, it’s the only fun I’m likely to have for quite a while.

We may have to set up a “Free Republic in Exile” like Degaulle did when the Nazis overran France, but we’ll manage.

Some realistic things to expect early in the Obama Administration

I work in Chicago. I deal with a great many attorneys in my job, many of whom are staunch Dims and breathless Obambi supporters; some were even active in his campaign. More than one told me that at or near the top of Obambi’s agenda is a new Hate Crimes bill, with a wide expansion of what will be considered a hate crime

Didn't you notice that Obama is a conservative?  "Obama is, in his own words, something of a Rorschach test. You know there were warning signs...

I kept telling people when Bill Clinton slithered in to office, and clung to it, despite all the scandals, and Impeachment itself-- “He's just a symptom. Like a fever is of a disease- there's something wrong with America.”

Like Popular Culture- look at the magazines-- I call it “thugs & jugs,” or “which Pop Tart is popping out whose baby this week?”

Or Katrina- ever seen so many people milling around with their hands out, when they should have been helping themselves?

We did it to ourselves, and The New, Improved Black Jesus is merely a symptom.

All civilizations have a shelf life- once enough citizens figure out that by electing the “right” representatives, they can use the power of the government to pick the pockets of others,

...it's all over, except for the details.

Well, we're in the “details,” now.

Meanwhile, I have to figure out what Miss Emily and I do with what's left of our lives, and bush hog her Mom's old place in the country, because City Life isn't going to be worth living from here on out.

I'll catch you all later...

MOE LANE: Let Us Recap The Gerald Walpin Situation. Funny, he doesn’t sound disoriented . . . .

UPDATE: Heh:

“That’s a total lie,” Walpin said of the latter charge. And he said the accusation that he was dazed and confused at one meeting out of many was not only false, but poor rationale for his ouster.

“It appears to suggest that I was removed because I was disabled — based on one occasion out of hundreds,” he said.

“I would never say President Obama doesn’t have the capacity to continue to serve because of his (statement) that there are 56 states,” Walpin said, adding that the same holds for Vice President Biden and his “many express confusions that have been highlighted by the media.”

Fired Inspector General Walpin On Obama's Smear: "That's a Total Lie!"

Fired Inspector General Walpin Speaks Out--

Last week, Dear Leader fired inspector general Gerald Walpin after he identified millions of dollars in AmeriCorps funds that were wasted or misspent. The man in charge of Americorps is a top Obama supporter and friend. Mayor Kevin Johnson used AmeriCorps grants to pay volunteers to engage in school-board political activities, run personal errands for Johnson and even wash his car.

Obama fired Walpin after this discovery and replaced him with Michelle Obama's friend.
Last night Obama said he fired Walpin because he was crazy.

Today, Walpin spoke out.
FOX News reported:

The government watchdog President Obama canned for allegedly being "confused" and "disoriented" fired back sharply Wednesday, saying the White House explanation for removing him was "insufficient," "baseless" and "absolutely wild."

Gerald Walpin, who until last week was the inspector general for the Corporation for National and Community Service, told FOXNews.com that part of Obama's explanation was a "total lie" and that he feels he's got a target on his back for political reasons.

"I am now the target of the most powerful man in this country, with an army of aides whose major responsibility today seems to be to attack me and get rid of me," Walpin said.

Facing bi-partisan criticism for the firing, Obama sought to allay congressional concerns with a letter to Senate leaders Tuesday evening explaining his decision. In the letter, White House Special Counsel Norman Eisen wrote that Walpin was "confused" and "disoriented" at a recent board meeting, was "unduly disruptive," and exhibited a "lack of candor" in providing information to decision makers.

"That's a total lie," Walpin said of the latter charge. And he said the accusation that he was dazed and confused at one meeting out of many was astonishing as rationale for his ouster.

More... House Republicans raise questions about Walpin firing.

Obama’s AmeriCrooks and cronies scandal Updated

My syndicated column today digs further into Obama’s AmeriCorruption. We now have the White House in full Chicago thug mode — maligning fired AmeriCorps inspector general Gerald Walpin as “confused” and “disoriented.” Yep, that was the response after Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill weighed in and pronounced herself unsatistifed with Obama’s “loss of confidence” rationale.

Implying that Walpin has lost his marbles is desperate and lame. Walpin has been consistenly lucid and laser-sharp in every TV and radio interview I’ve seen or heard — including on the Laura Ingraham show yesterday, where he noted that evidence in the Sacramento mayor/NBA star/Obama crony Kevin Johnson case was destroyed.

Far from being “confused” and “disoriented,” Walpin is clear as day. Anyone who actually reads through his audits and investigative reports knows that. You can, should, and must read Walpin’s reports both on CUNY funding abuse and on the Johnson scandal here.

I also continue to hammer at the Michelle Obama angle. Her vested interest in propping up the government-subsidized volunteer industry stretches back to her days leading the Chicago non-profit Public Allies (scroll down to the end of my column for what the AmeriCorps’ inspector general found while investigating money troubles at Mrs. O’s old friends at Public Allies). And we can’t forget her days working to promote national service — and to set up cozy public chat forums with her husband and Weather Underground Bill Ayers — while at the University of Chicago.

Last week, I said this reeked of the Clintons’ Travelgate. It’s much, much worse.

Obama’s AmeriCrooks and cronies scandal

President Obama promised he would end “Washington games.” But his abrupt firing of the AmeriCorps inspector general is more of the same. The brewing scandal smells like the Beltway cronyism of the Bush years. And the apparent meddling of First Lady Michelle Obama in the matter smacks of the corruption of the Clinton years.

If Obama keeps up with this “change,” we’ll be back to the Watergate era by Christmas.

News of AmeriCorps watchdog Gerald Walpin’s unceremonious dismissal first broke last week in Youth Today, an independent national publication focused on the volunteerism sector. Walpin was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2007 and has served well, honorably, and effectively. Too effectively. His removal came a week after he “questioned the eligibility of the largest and most expensive AmeriCorps program, and while the IG was contesting the ‘propriety’ of a settlement made with a mayor for alleged misuse of AmeriCorps funds,” according to Youth Today.

The first taxpayer-subsidized program is the Teaching Fellows Program, run by the Research Foundation of the City University of New York. Walpin’s audit (which can be found online at www.cncsig.gov/AuditReports.html) uncovered a multitude of grant violations, including criminal background check lapses and “pervasive problems of eligibility, timekeeping, and documentation.”

Walpin office questioned duplicative educational awards of more than $16 million and costs worth nearly $775,000. CUNY refused to return excess funds that it had drawn down, failed to revise procedures to prevent such grant abuse, and refused to provide proof documenting that its AmeriCorps participants actually existed. Walpin advised AmeriCorps’ parent organization, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), to cut off any new funding and reexamine past government funding totaling upwards of $75 million.

Walpin’s recommendations have been ignored by CNCS, now chaired by Democrat mega-fundraiser Alan Solomont. The Obama watchdogs are snoozing. Expect the same kind of lackadaisical approach toward policing the $6 billion AmeriCorps expansion/government national service programs signed into law by President Obama in April.

The second program Walpin challenged is the non-profit St. HOPE Academy, run by Obama supporter Kevin Johnson, the Democrat mayor of Sacramento and a former NBA basketball star. In a special May 2009 report, Walpin’s office blew the whistle on a highly politicized U.S. Attorney’s Office settlement with Johnson and his deputy, Dana Gonzalez. The pair exploited nearly $900,000 in AmeriCorps funding for personal and political gain. Based on Walpin’s investigation last year, CNCS had suspended their access to federal funds after determining that they were:

*Using AmeriCorps members to “recruit students for St. HOPE Academy;”

*Using AmeriCorps members for political activities in connection with the “Sacramento Board of Education election;”

*Assigning grant-funded AmeriCorps members to perform services “personally benefiting . . . Johnson,” such as “driving [him] to personal appointments, washing [his] car, and running personal errands;” and

*Improperly using AmeriCorps “members to perform non-AmeriCorps clerical and other services” that “were outside the scope of the grant and therefore were impermissible” for “the benefit of St. HOPE.”

But in the wake of Johnson’s mayoral victory and President Obama’s election in November, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sacramento rushed to settle with the new mayor so he could avail himself of federal stimulus funds and other government money. It was, Walpin said in his special report last month, “akin to deciding that, while one should not put a fox in a small chicken coop, it is fine to do so in a large chicken coop! The settlement…leaves the unmistakable impression that relief from a suspension can be bought.”

Shortly after, the White House announced that it had “lost confidence” in Walpin. With Walpin’s removal, the top management positions at AmeriCorps’ parent organization are now all open. The decks are clear to install lackeys who will protect the government volunteerism industry and its Democrat cronies. And a chilling effect has undoubtedly taken hold in every other inspector general’s office in Washington.

GOP Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa is pressing Obama for more details. Tough questions need to be asked of First Lady Michelle Obama, who has “taken the lead” in selecting AmeriCorps’ managers, according to Youth Today. Her former chief of staff, Jackie Norris, will serve as a “senior adviser” to CNCS beginning next week. What role did they play in Walpin’s sacking? And why?

Mrs. Obama’s interest is more than passing. She ran the AmeriCorps-funded non-profit Public Allies in Chicago from 1993-1996 and served on its national board until 2001. Like so many of the AmeriCorps recipients investigated by the inspector general’s office over the years, Public Allies was found to have violated basic eligibility and compliance rules. A January 2007 audit reported that the group lacked internal controls verifying that recipients who received education grants and living allowances were legal citizens or permanent residents as required by law.

Transparency. Accountability. Fiscal responsibility. In Obama World, these are proving to be nothing more than words. Just words.

Under the Radar, Dems Inexplicably Block Missile Defense (Updated)

DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THIS ONE?

It happened last night.

There was debate on the floor of the House over some amendments to a spending bill. The amendments were offered by Republicans and concerned funding for ACORN and an investigation into Nancy Pelosi's problems with the CIA.

As I understand the story, the Democrats announced that there would be no more votes that evening, and Republicans started heading home.

When enough Republicans were gone the Democrats headed back to the House floor and called for a vote to end debate on all amendments to the spending bill.

AND YET, STRANGELY, IT’S NOT GETTING AS MUCH PRESS COVERAGE AS LAST YEAR: Gas prices rise for 50th straight day.

Gas Prices Climb For 50th Straight Day- A Record

Gas prices continued to rise for a record 50th straight day today.
My Way reported:

Retail gas prices climbed for the 50th straight day Wednesday, and crude prices that had slumped all week bounced back.

Historically, filling station prices tend to rise during the summer as millions of Americans take to the road. But a surge in crude prices during the past few months and less production from the refiners that make gasoline has added pressure on prices.

"Refiners slowed production and did a lot of maintenance on the expectation that this was going to be a lousy year for demand," said Fred Rozell, retail pricing director at Oil Price Information Service. "It turns out it wasn't so bad."

Yet it's still pretty bad. Before the most recent government report on demand, gasoline supplied to the market was down 3 percent, and prices have still been cheaper than they were three years ago.
Bob McCarty reported that gas prices will approach $5 per gallon by next year.
...But, democrats refuse to allow America to tap into our own resources.

1 Yr Ago – AP Bemoans 5% Jobless Rate

June 17th, 2009

Here is a flashback from an article we posted last May from an outraged Associated Press:

Employers cut fewer jobs in April, jobless rate falls

By JEANNINE AVERSA, AP Economics Writer

WASHINGTON – Employers cut far fewer jobs in April than in recent months and the unemployment rate dropped to 5 percent, a better-than-expected showing that nonetheless reveals strains in the nation’s labor market.

For the fourth month in a row, the economy lost jobs, the Labor Department reported Friday. But in April the losses totaled 20,000, an improvement from the 81,000 reductions in payrolls logged in March. Job losses for both February and March turned out to be a bit deeper than previously reported.

The latest snapshot of the nationwide employment conditions — while clearly still weak — was better than many economists were anticipating. They were bracing for job cuts of 75,000 and for the unemployment rate to climb to 5.2 percent.

The unemployment rate, derived from a different statistical survey than the payroll figures, fell to 5 percent from 5.1 percent in March. That survey showed more people finding employment than those who didn’t.

Businesses are handing out pink slips as they cope with an economy that is teetering on the edge of a recession, or possibly in one already. A severe housing slump, harder-to-get credit and financial turmoil have forced people and businesses to be more cautious in their spending. And that has hurt the economy…

In other economic news, the Commerce Department reported that orders to U.S. factories rose a bigger-than-expected 1.4 percent in March, after two straight months of declines.

The fresh economic news lifted Wall Street. The Dow Jones industrials were up in afternoon trading

Meanwhile, zooming energy and food prices are taking a bite out of paychecks. If the job market continues to falter, wage growth probably will slow, too, making people even less inclined to spend. That would spell further trouble for the economy…

The economy advanced at a snail’s pace of just 0.6 percent in the first three months of this year as people and businesses clamped down on their spending. It marked the second quarter in a row of such feeble growth.

A growing number of economists believe the economy is in a recession and is indeed contracting now.

Under one rough rule, if the economy contracts for six straight months it is considered to be in a recession. That didn’t happen in the last recession — in 2001— though. A panel of experts at the National Bureau of Economic Research that determines when U.S. recessions begin and end uses a broader definition, taking into account income, employment and other barometers. That finding is usually made well after the fact.

Look at that headline.

It is clear that the AP will go through any contortions to try to make good news about the economy sound bad.

After all, they must do their DNC masters’ bidding.

Lest we forget, a 5% unemployment rate was considered "full employment" during the salad days of the Clinton administration.

++++

Of course back in May of 2008 our one party media was trying to talk the country into a recession in order to get a Democrat in the White House.

Now compare and contrast this with how the selfsame Associated Press is reporting the record-breaking unemployment at 9.4%.

(See the related articles below.)

Obama Admits He's Losing Sleep Over His Spending

Obama will quadruple the US budget deficit his first year in office.

And, he wants to spend trillions more for his Obamacare program.

Obama admitted in an interview yesterday that his own spending is keeping him awake at night.
Rush Limbaugh got a chuckle out of that:

Sound bite here, it's just ridiculous. It's nonsensical. It is absurd. In a CNBC interview last night, Obama is asked about deficits, spending, taxing health care, and all of this. "Specifically are you open to curbing benefits for entitlement programs, more means testing, raising the retirement age for Social Security?" Listen to his answer here.

OBAMA: Well, uh, this is something that keeps me awake at night. There's no doubt that we got a serious problem in terms of our long-term deficits and debt.

RUSH: Stop!

OBAMA: I make no apologizes...

RUSH: Stop the tape. Who created it? This is what's absurd about this. He's losing sleep over himself! Cue it back to the top. He's losing sleep over himself. I'll try to go through this without stopping again but it's tough, folks. It's tough to be lied to like this. It's tough to be insulted like this, to have your intelligence insulted like this, and sit here and not saying anything.

OBAMA: Well, uh, this is something that keeps me awake at night. There's no doubt that we got a serious problem in terms of our long-term deficits and debt. I make no apologizes for having acted short-term to deal with our recession.

RUSH: (snorts)

OBAMA: I think the vast majority of economists, conservative and liberal, felt that extraordinary interventions were necessary to prevent us from slipping into a potentially deep depression.

RUSH: No, they don't!

OBAMA: As soon as this economy recovers -- and that means planning now and starting to take some steps now to deal with it -- we're going to have to close that gap between the going in and the amount of money going out.

RUSH: It's a bunch of BS. Stop the spending! Look the stimulus isn't working right, and so far only four to 7% of it has been spent? Cut the rest of it! It isn't working. There's at least $700 billion we could save, and you might be able to sleep a couple more minutes at night. (interruption) No, I don't think he's losing sleep over anything. I think this guy... If he can't sleep it's, because he's excited. If he's losing sleep, it's because he's excited. He cannot believe how easy it is to take over all this stuff! He can't believe how easy it is to fool all these people. He can't believe what a stroke of good luck that an opposition party doesn't exist. He can't believe that there's not one Republican that will stand up and say, "Stop this!" I'm sure he can't... Well, I take it back. With this guy's ego, he probably is focused on Fox. He's never been criticized in his life. He's never been laughed at. I mean, folks, this is just... This is like Colonel Sanders saying, "We gotta stop killing and eating chickens." Now, there this next one. After saying, "We're going to do all this stuff. We gotta stop this recession.

Second cameraman: “Mr. Mirzavi, we liked you.” [too many people talking at the same time - inaudible] Cameraman again: “Just don’t cheat this time.”

Then they start screaming "MOUSAVI!" when Ahmadinejad shows up and "LIAR!" when he is pulling away, and then my favorite: "Ahmadi Bye bye."

AUTOMOTIVE HISTORY: Archival footage reveals Preston Tucker’s novel military Combat Car.

Preston Tucker was nothing if not an innovator. While best known for the failed automaker that bore his name and the 51 iconoclastic Tucker Torpedo sedans his venture managed to push out before shutting its doors for good in 1948, that company was not the entrepreneur's first foray into the transportation sector. Way back in the mid 1930s, Tucker and famed engine builder Harry Miller began designing race cars for the Indianapolis 500 before Miller's death in 1943.

Upon returning back home to Michigan, Preston Tucker commenced designing an armored Combat Car for the U.S. military. Though the design was ultimately rejected, the vehicle featured a number of innovations and eventually led to the successful manufacturing contract to produce Tucker Turrets for the U.S. Navy.

Hit the jump for some awesome archival footage of Tucker's Combat Car in action along with such innovations as same-size swappable bulletproof windows, separately adjustable headlights (not unlike those slated for the Torpedo), a bulletproof and multi-chambered radiator, individually-braked wheels and the ability to traverse rough terrain with a top speed of 115 mph.

"Barack? We need to talk...."

In an article published last Saturday in the WSJ.com, Paul Starobin suggests that America, as a direct reaction to an ever-growing and more powerful central government, may edge towards being "an assembly of largely autonomous regional republics." Starobin sees the unmistakable growth of secessionist sentiment in Texas, Alaska and elsewhere, and notes:

... history seems to be driving one nail after another into the coffin of the big, which is why the Obama planners and their ilk, even if they now ride high, may be doomed to fail. No one anymore expects the best ideas to come from the biggest actors in the economy, so should anyone expect the best thinking to be done by the whales of the political world?

American Thinker's George Joyce, in a review of Starobin's piece, writes "A failed presidency for Barack Obama could turn into liberalism's worst nightmare. Barely six months into his term, the 44th president has succeeded in generating the most widespread and serious discussion of secession since the Civil War. Despite what Newsweek's Evan Thomas may claim, Obama is not the 'God' who will bring us together but the autocratic sponsor of an overbearing, oppressive leviathan from which a growing number of Americans are seeking refuge.

Wouldn't a new American devolution...be a liberal's worst nightmare? Beyond the psychosis most liberals would have to endure at the thought of losing any kind of control, the prospect of vibrant, happy, and successful conservative republics in places like Texas, South Carolina or Utah would be an inescapable spotlight forever exposing the failure of liberal ideology...

In light of America's consistent historic reaction to any attempt to impose control from a distance, some form of major push-back against Obama's preening emperor-act seems almost inevitable. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Both pieces are well worth reading.

The Obamacare horror story you won’t hear

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 19, 2009 01:04 AM

I blogged about Michelle Obama’s role in creating a patient-dumping scheme for the University of Chicago Medical Center back in March. With her husband and the Democrats unleashing health care horror story anecdotes to gin up public fear and build support for the beleaguered Obamacare plan, my syndicated column today revisits the kind of “reform” the Obamas and their Chicago cronies champion — and who benefits.

Here’s a challenge to the ABC News Obamacare infomercial producers. I dare you to ask President Obama this question: What have you done for Dontae Adams, lately?

The White House, Democrats, and MoveOn liberals are spreading health care sob stories to sell a government takeover. But there’s one health care policy nightmare you won’t hear the Obamas hyping. It’s a tale of poor, minority patient-dumping in Chicago — with First Lady Michelle Obama’s fingerprints all over it.

Both Republican Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa and Democrat Rep. Bobby Rush of Chicago have raised red flags about the outsourcing program, run by the University of Chicago Medical Center. The hospital has non-profit status and receives lucrative tax breaks in exchange for providing charity care. Yet, it spent a measly $10 million on charity care for the poor in fiscal 2007 when Mrs. Obama was employed there—1.3 percent of its total hospital expenses, according to an analysis performed for The Washington Post by the non-partisan Center for Tax and Budget Accountability. The figure is below the 2.1 percent average for nonprofit hospitals in surrounding Cook County.

Rep. Rush called for a House investigation last week in response to months of patient-dumping complaints, noting: “Congress has a duty to expend its power to mitigate and prevent this despicable practice from continuing in centers that receive federal funds.”

Don’t expect the president to support a probe. While a top executive at the hospital, Mrs. Obama helped engineer the plan to offload low-income patients with non-urgent health needs. Under the Orwellian banner of an “Urban Health Initiative,” Mrs. Obama sold the scheme to outsource low-income care to other facilities as a way to “dramatically improve health care for thousands of South Side residents.” The program guaranteed “free” shuttle rides to and from the outside clinics.

In truth, it was old-fashioned cost-cutting and favor-trading repackaged as minority aid. Clearing out the poor freed up room for insured (i.e., more lucrative) patients. If a Republican had proposed the very same program and recruited black civic leaders to front it, Michelle Obama and her grievance-mongering friends would be screaming “RAAAAAAAAACISM!” at the top of their lungs.

Joe Stephens of the Washington Post wrote: “To ensure community support, Michelle Obama and others in late 2006 recommended that the hospital hire the firm of David Axelrod, who a few months later became the chief strategist for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Axelrod’s firm recommended an aggressive promotional effort modeled on a political campaign—appoint a campaign manager, conduct focus groups, target messages to specific constituencies, then recruit religious leaders and other third-party ‘validators.’ They, in turn, would write and submit opinion pieces to Chicago publications.”

Some health care experts saw through Mrs. Obama and her public relations man, David Axelrod—yes, the same David Axelrod who is now Mr. Obama’s senior adviser at the White House. The University of Chicago Medical Center hired Axelrod’s public relations firm, ASK Public Strategies, to promote Mrs. Obama’s Urban Health Initiative. Axelrod had the blessing of Chicago political guru Valerie Jarrett – now White House senior adviser.

Axelrod’s great contribution: Re-branding! His firm recommended re-naming the initiative after “[i]nternal and external respondents expressed the opinion that the word ‘urban’ is code for ‘black’ or ‘black and poor’….Based on the research, consideration should be given to re-branding the initiative.” Axelrod and the Obama campaign refused to disclose how much his firm received for its genius re-branding services.

In February 2009, outrage in the Obamas’ community exploded after a young boy covered by Medicaid was turned away from the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dontae Adams’ mother, Angela, had sought emergency treatment for him after a pit bull tore off his upper lip. Mrs. Obama’s hospital gave the boy a tetanus shot, antibiotics, and Tylenol and shoved him out the door. The mother and son took an hour-long bus ride to another hospital for surgery.

I’ll guarantee you this: You’ll never see the Adams family featured at an Obama policy summit or seated next to the First Lady at a joint session of Congress to illustrate the failures of the health care system.

Following the Adams incident, the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) blasted Mrs. Obama and Mr. Axelrod’s grand plan. The group released a statement expressing “grave concerns that the University of Chicago’s policy toward emergency patients is dangerously close to ‘patient dumping,’ a practice made illegal by the Emergency Medical Labor and Treatment Act (EMTALA)” – signed by President Reagan, by the way – “and reflected an effort to ‘cherry pick’ wealthy patients over poor.”

Rewarding political cronies at the expense of the poor while posing as guardians of the downtrodden? Welcome to Obamacare.

Mark Steyn weighs in on Professor Martin's 'robust' performance with
Canada's Holy Inquisition
[See updates below]

Speaking to the House of Commons committee hearings on Canada's "human rights" commissions, Professor Martin of the University of Western Ontario gave a remarkable presentation on what he calls their "horrifying record". You can listen to the audio here - it's apparently too strong meat to let the citizenry see the video. You won't want to miss it.

Among its other notable features, it marks the latest stage in the denormalization of Richard Warman, former Canadian "Human Rights" Commission employee, victorious plaintiff on every Section 13 prosecution since 2002 and the country's most prominent Internet Nazi. Professor Martin calls him "the utterly odious Richard Warman" - and even brings up the Anne Cools post, as Senator Cools happens to be a friend of the professor.

Section 13, the CHRC and its Chief Commissar shame Canada, and they will not endure. In his previous incarnation as BBC late-night host twittering with leftie novelists into the small hours about freedom of expression, Michael Ignatieff would have been the first to say so. I'm confident his old pals Rushdie, Hitchens and Amis will eventually remind him of what he knows to be true.

[UPDATE: I like this line in response to a Liberal questioner: "Life in a democracy requires robust citizens." The Grit questions are as one might expect: tendentious, emotive, and boasting of their PC bona fides.]

[UPDATE 2: Gotta love this question from Mr Hiebert: "In the example of Senator Cools, I have to ask: Do you believe that she should have access to some form of legislation or prosecutorial avenue to prevent people like Mr Warman from making the comments that he did about her on the Internet?"

And there it is, folks: In Hansard, in the official Parliamentary record, for all eternity.

Professor Martin's response: "She does not want to soil herself by getting into a tussle with vermin like this [Mr Warman]." On the other hand, he is in favour of "a public hanging of Richard Warman".]

[UPDATE 3: The committee chairman: "I assume it's a reference to her race that begins with the letter 'n'." Mr Warman came this close to getting it read into the record.]

[IN SUMMARY: I yield to no one in my contempt for Richard Warman, and I'm all for getting his activities into Hansard, but I think the Professor's friendship with Senator Cools led him slightly off-track at times. It was a good presentation on overall philosophy and the law and in response to Liberal questions, but he got muddled up on some of the specifics of the HRC cases. Very good on the "odious" Taylor - the first Canadian to be imprisoned for his opinions since the 1930s.]

12 states are now experiencing record unemployment numbers.

The states with the next highest rates were Oregon, 12.4 percent; Rhode Island and South Carolina, 12.1 percent each; California, 11.5 percent; Nevada, 11.3 percent; and North Carolina, 11.1 percent. Six additional states and the District of Columbia recorded unemployment rates of at least 10.0 percent. The California, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, and South Carolina rates were the highest on record for those states. Florida, at 10.2 percent, and Georgia, at 9.7 percent, also posted series highs. Nebraska and North Dakota registered the lowest unemployment rates, 4.4 percent each.
Barack Obama admitted this week that the US unemployment rate will reach 10% this year.

Somewhere I determined that those terms plus hard work were my ticket to the American dream. Along the way I realized that socialism/communism has never done much but impoverish all who were foolish enough to participate. Cynthia Cooper, Coleen Rowley and Sherron Watkins
"They took huge professional and personal risks to blow the whistle on what went wrong at WorldCom, Enron and the FBI—and in so doing helped remind us what American courage and American values are all about."
Uh-huh.

But, that was back during the Bush years, when the media thought whistleblowers were cool.

Last week, the Obama White House fired inspector general Gerald Walpin after he identified millions of dollars in AmeriCorps funds that were wasted or misspent. The man in charge of Americorps is a top Obama supporter and friend. Mayor Kevin Johnson used AmeriCorps grants to pay volunteers to engage in school-board political activities, run personal errands for Johnson and even wash his car.

This week the Obama White House smeared Walpin claiming he was "confused" at a meeting and therefore had to be fired. The White House has fired two inspector generals in the last two weeks.

But, don't expect TIME Magazine to recognize Walpin for taking "huge professional and personal risks to blow the whistle on what went wrong" at Americorps.

Things don't work that way in the Age of Obama.

Byron York writes at The Washington Examiner today on how the GOP can crack the Americorps scandal.

Radical Islam Reaches Bolivia-- Ahmadinejad Loincloths a Hit? (Updated)

Ahmadinejad supporters in Bolivia--

Iran Press News
UPDATE: Iran Press News was punked. The photo is from Picjoke

In 2007, Former Bolivian Congressman and Ambassador Jose' Brechner disclosed that radical Islamists from from Iran, Libya and other Middle Eastern nations had infiltrated Bolivia.
This week report by the Open Source Center (OSC) of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence says it's true.
FOX News reported:

A poor, agrarian, landlocked country in South America with a nearly 100 percent Christian population is hardly the place one would expect to become a hotbed of Islamic extremism in the Western Hemisphere.

But a recent report by the Open Source Center (OSC) of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence says it's so.

There are only 1,000 Muslims in Bolivia, a country of 9.7 million people, but the connection between some of the community’s religious leaders and Iran — as well as with fundamentalist factions in the Palestinian territories — has U.S. officials and terror experts keeping a watchful eye on them.

The report revealed a number of Muslim organizations in Bolivia whose leaders have publicly denounced U.S. foreign policy and have direct associations with extremists in the Middle East.

“There’s a theory that they may believe — Latin America, particularly with its Leftist leanings in recent years, may be more receptive to the anti-American-type rhetoric that we’ve been accustomed to hearing from Iran,” said a U.S. intelligence official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The Marxist Morales has been cozying up with the Iranians for years. Here he gets touchy-feely with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Global cooling

More and more, progressives who want American citizens to fork over their money in an effort to control the climate are trying to market the phrase "climate change" instead of "global warming," in an urgent about face they hope nobody will notice. That's because they're faced with an inconvenient truth: all the hystrionics about icebergs melting and drowning coastal cities in coming years may not be true. To continue the fear, and therefore generate support for spending billions to solve the crisis, fear-mongers need terminology that will work no matter what the climate does.

~ WATCHING IRAN: Teh Binks’ take? The canned pre-arranged election went tea-party on the mullahs. Even if that’s not the case, the plebs are getting uppity over there, and the bosses don’t like it.

Here in Canada, we have petty would-be tyrants bossing people around for their own good. In Iran, they’ve had 30 years of the fully-monty misery, and it looks like the regime is in trouble.

Dictatorships love faux-elections, with the inevitable 99.5% turnout, and all that. As far as I can tell, this was supposed to be yet another one in Czar Mullah-run style, but the kids are getting uppity (gee, sounds like 1979, except those kids are now the tyrant geezers in charge), can Twitter, e-mail, YouTube, and have sent a clear message to the elites and the world that Persian folks are tired of theocracy and canned elections, worried about nuclear war, and don’t particularly care for their rulers.

The other guy in the election doesn’t matter, in one sense– freedom-loving university students, women’s rights activists and others have been disappearing or rotting in jail or turning up dead for years– even if we didn’t pay much attention to them. Shame on us.

An Ancient People

Why do I say ‘Persian’? Because before Islam steamrolled her ancient (and indeed, partly Christianized) culture, this is one of the old great nations of the ancient world, feared by all, then conquered by Alexander, then risen again under new kings. The mighty monuments of old Persia still stand– though the mullahs were mulling bulldozing the lot, since for Islam, anything ‘before’ is essentially ‘the time of evil’.

When I see skin-colour, I ask ‘Who are they– what do they think?’ and not ‘all Arabs/ Persians/ Muslims are retards. I remember a refugee of the ‘79 Revolution who came to university in Canada, and told us of what he was escaping– he spoke 4 or 5 languages, was funny, well-read, politically serious, and a good guy– and he taught me and my immature teen friends some naughty Iranian curses. Plus he loved D&D.

Sure the former Shah of Iran sucked in certain ways– like the Russian Tsar, or the French King: and the horrible slaughter and many-times worse revolutions that overthrew them were so very much worse. Revolutions eat their children, and then their grandchildren: the reform becomes the revolt becomes the new tyrants. The Tsar’s feeble internal security and a few hundred in detention becomes the KGB, and 25 millions in the Gulags.

Looking Elsewhere

Iraq sits next door, having a much freer system, and actual elections that mean something– the grass is greener over the fence.

Despite the usual patterns of politics and diplomacy, this is one of those quirky moments when a whole people are galvanized by an idea of freedom. And the Persian people will remember this time, whether better days come sooner or later for them: that American, Canada, and the world stood for them, and let their voices be heard, when their own masters would not listen, or only respond with violence and death.

Remembering

They will remember these days: that we watched, spoke out, stood with them– (don’t do that Iran internet-blocking thing: it mostly hurts the good guys)? This may be one of those moments that changes the life of a people and the world, without the big names and important occasions– and even aside from the bumbling utopian intentions of the Greatest POTUS Ever.

Militant head-cracking Shari’a Islamic Theocracy is not the best that the world has to offer. God loves his people, and would have them set free, to live to the full, and worship, and bring forward all the best of who they are and could and should be. ~

~ JUST GOTTA SAY IT– I Love the TV-show NCIS, just finished season 6, with a sweet cliffhanger. It is a profoundly conservative, politically incorrect show from that conservative and politically incorrect producer & screenwriter Donald P. Bellisario, mastermind of “Magnum, P.I., Airwolf, Quantum Leap, JAG, and NCIS. Less-known creations include Tales of the Gold Monkey, Tequila & Bonetti and First Monday. He was also writer/producer on Black Sheep Squadron and the original Battlestar Galactica“.

It’s all about the actors and the writing: almost never a false note, and the writing is crisp– almost sparse– and sparkles with intelligence, seriousness, and humour. It’s a very human show.

The show deals in good/ evil, topical issues, the life & death costs of the current Jihad, and so much more. Plus, we get to see the CIA, FBI, and Mossad in action, with more than a whiff of Tom Clancy. Bellisario is neither peacenik or warmonger– nor a antihero worshipper– but rather a teller of stories of our time. If you’ve not seen it, the DVD season are on Amazon, and re-runs through the Summer on North American TV.

NCIS– part of what makes the Binks who he is. Obey, enjoy. ~

Harry Abrams - Spying on Free Dominion since 2007
I was reading about the CHRC case against Arthur Topham and the Radical Press that was initiated by one Harry Abrams from the B'nai Brith. As part of the evidence submitted, Harry Abrams admitted to using a fake internet identity (SURPRISE!) named "Brian Esker" when he was corresponding with Arthur Topham and trying to build the case against him. Here is a link to those revelations: http://www.radicalpress.com/?p=786

Well, some time ago, I had a conversation with Harry Abrams on the Western Standard blog. I had never met Harry Abrams or had any contact with him, but it was obvious that he knew me.

Here is a link to that conversation, and here are a couple of his posts to me:

From my chair it looks like Connie's misapprehensions and re-parroting of other peoples' misapprehensions/expressed distortions have already cost her plenty.

And I see no reason for that not to continue based upon her above posted remarks and the stuff she continues to allow/encourage to be posted on her own blog.

If I was you, I would attempt to make amends with Mr. Warman. But I'm not. So this now has to play out, and the piper still must be paid at the end of the party.

Anyway, I commented before that I thought those posts sounded like they were written by some kind of evil James Bond villain, but I didn't think too much of it at the time, other than that it creeped me out.

But, after I read Arthur Topham's report, I decided to check the FD member list to see if there was any sign of Harry's alter-ego, Brian Esker.

Guess what???

Not only did the creepy little man sign up at Free Dominion here, but his sign-up date shows that he did so just THREE DAYS after the story of the Gentes CHRC complaint against Free Dominion was posted on this site.

Now, at that time, I had never even heard the names "Harry Abrams" or "Richard Warman", the CHRC complaint was not of an anti-Semitic nature, and Free Dominion was (as it is today) the most pro-Israel forum in Canadian cyberspace.

So, why would B'nai Brith agent, Harry Abrams/Brian Esker have been lurking around Free Dominion like a hideous vulture the moment the CHRC attacked us?

And, since he didn't post anything under that username, has he been using other usernames to post here since then? (Something like "Lil's Husband", maybe??)

So many questions, aren't there?

But, all of this points to something very organized and very sinister, and we WILL get to the bottom of it. I promise.

Michelle Obama Deep In The Americrooks Mess

Does anyone really believe Michelle Obama did not have a huge hand in the firing of Inspector General Walpin last week, especially seeing as how large a role she plays in the organizations involved? Michelle Malkin:

Guess where the First Lady will be on Monday?

Why, she’ll be delivering the keynote address at the 2009 National Conference on Volunteering and Service in San Francisco.

And who is co-sponsoring the conference?

Why, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS)!

Yes, that’s the same CNCS that is the parent organization of AmeriCorps.

It’s the same CNCS that last year suspended Sacramento mayor/Obama crony Kevin Johnson from receiving federal funds after then-inspector general Gerald Walpin blew the whistle on massive fraud and abuse of AmeriCorps dollars for personal and political gain.

It’s the same CNCS that then sat by and meekly watched Team Obama and the U.S. Attorney in Sacramento railroad Walpin after the November 2008 election for doing his damned job.

And now, there is no honest, independent watchdog to raise questions on behalf of taxpayers as the Obama political machine takes over the national service juggernaut. How…convenient.

And we're not only talking about a few speeches to the organizations, we're talking about the First Lady being waaaay to involved in them:

AmeriCrooks Watch: Meddling Michelle Obama to keynote volunteerism conference

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 20, 2009 10:47 AM

Well, well, well.

Michelle, Michelle, Michelle.

By the way: The First Lady’s former chief of staff, Jackie Norris, starts her new job as “senior adviser” (translation: Michelle O’s mole) at CNCS on Monday. And from the AmeriCorps press release published yesterday:

“The First Lady has made service and volunteering a life calling, and her leadership is helping to inspire a whole new generation of Americans who are making service a part of their daily lives,” said Nicola Goren, Acting CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service. “Her participation demonstrates the high priority the White House has placed on service as a way to help in our nation’s recovery.”

“First Lady Michelle Obama knows first-hand the power of service to transform lives and communities,” said Michelle Nunn, CEO of the Points of Light Institute and co-founder of HandsOn Network. “We are thrilled that she chose our national conference as the platform to launch United We Serve. She has made service a centerpiece of her agenda, and her appearance will add a burst of excitement and a new significance to this gathering of service leaders as well as our larger efforts to usher in a new era of service.”

I first raised questions about the First Lady’s meddling into the AmeriCrooks mess on June 12 after following up on little-noticed reports in the niche publication Youth Today detailing Mrs. Obama’s active role and interest in staffing the top management at CNCS. As I noted last week:

Michelle Obama’s installation as the face and voice of the government volunteerism boondoggle only deepens suspicions about the role she and her staff may have played in Walpin’s sacking. So does her past exploitation of the “community service” mantle to reward Chicago politicos (see “The Obama horror story you won’t hear”).

***

You know who else was supposed to speak at the CNCS conference next week?

The supposedly dazed and confused Gerald Walpin.

Via WashTimes (hat tip - Quin Hilyer):

On Tuesday June 9, just one day before the White House first asked him to step down, the agency asked him to make a speech on June 23 in San Francisco to a conference of some 2,000 staff members and grantees. The invitation, he said, was delivered by Gretchen Van De Veer, director of the Office of Leadership Development and Training at the Corporation for National and Community Service.

“They begged me to come,” he said. “Why would they do that if they thought I am incapacitated?”

Michelle? Anyone?

***

Will the liberal media lapdogs in San Francisco ask tough questions — or will they genuflect a la the Washington Post’s Robin Givan, who gushed last week that “so many eye her with awe and disbelief.”

Will anyone press the First Lady on the financial scandal — or will we get more drool-covered coverage of her bare arms?

Well, here’s the San Francisco Chronicle’s Carla Marinucci previewing the “frenzy” over Michelle Obama’s upcoming visit:

First Lady Michelle Obama is kicking off a White House push to underscore the importance of volunteerism in San Francisco on Monday — a move that will have political figures here elbowing each other to get in the frame with her.

But step aside, folks, it’s California First Lady Maria Shriver who snags that honor before all. Volunteerism has long been her leading issue, and she’s going to be alongside First Lady Michelle for the day in the starring role.

…”During this summer, the president is renewing his call to all Americans to identify needs in their communities, engage in meaningful service to create change — and stay engaged with these projects long after September,” says the Obama Administration press release, which urges Americans to hit the website of the Corporation for National and Community Service for ideas on where to volunteer.

But having Michelle Obama on board in San Francisco to make the case is a coup, bigtime, for Shriver and California; it not only ensures that armies of TV cameras will be focusing on state and local efforts, but brings out an adoring public — and that horde of local elected officials to lend support (and get in the picture).

Despite the MSM protectionism, this scandal is not going away.

I have a terrific volunteerism project: Volunteer to do the job the obsequious professional journalists won’t do. There will be national service events involving Team Obama members on Monday all over the country. Volunteer to serve your country by showing up and asking why Dear Leader undermined the IG protection law he helped co-sponsor in cutting Walpin loose.

The Unraveling of the Obama Agenda

The Kenyan’s absence of leadership experience has manifested itself rather quickly.
About half of the people living in this country are not ready to dive off into Barack’s Marxist sewer. All he has is the freeloader crowd. Those of us who make America work aren’t buying his bovine scatology.

Obama Presidential Eligibility - An Introductory Primer

Obama To Iran: Hey Guys, Can't I Just Finish My Ice Cream?

—DrewM.

Being President is hard, but not so hard that you can't pop out with the kids for some ice cream! (scroll around)

Obama and the girls are back at the WH after their quick outing for frozen custard.

...The Obama outing last 54 minutes. The Secret Service used the SUV instead of the limo for the pres and daughters.

...You're gonna laff: Obama & the girls actually bought Frozen Puppy pops for Bo: flavors: pumpkin, peanut butter and yogurt…

Yeah, I'm LOLing my ass off.

Mark Knoller, the CBS reporter who broke this story is shocked people are expressing outrage over this.

As someone once said, words matter. Well so do images. The image of the President of the United State heading out for a fun afternoon with the kids while people are still dying in the streets and being rounded up the security services is simply too much.

I get Presidents have to have lives. I didn't expect Bush to maintain a 24/7 vigil in the White House for 7 years after 9/11 but I wouldn't have expected him to head out for a "Puppy Pops" while there was a major offensive under way either.

There's precious little Obama can do, I don't think it's too much ask he not do crap to make it look like he's even less interested than he already seems. Whether he knows it or not, the world isn't only watching Tehran.

I'm sure lefties will wine that I and others who are annoyed by this will tell me how mean I am for not letting Obama be a dad and how the girls shouldn't be punished for the job he took.

Here's the thing, I don't begrudge the kids a vacation and shopping spree in Paris or any of the other perquisites they get from being the President's daughters. At the same time they and Obama have to realize that sometimes that means they will miss out on stuff. If Obama didn't think he could balance the job and his role as a father, he needed to think about that 2 years ago.

And of course...imagine if Bush had done this.

Elsewhere in the world today

I think I saw 2 or 3 people lying on the ground in blood & IRG started to move them, probably hide them.

Close it up
